This looks nice Ian! Am I correct in saying this created new geo offseted from the initial selection? Is this new geo using normal maps from an Atlas that comes with the addon?

You have a choice between the panel cut being merged or is another geometry (offsetted) with some Cycles visibility property turned off to make it look like it's a part of the original mesh. There's also a geonode option but good only for low poly meshes.

The geonode option does. This creates a separate geometry offsetted and some Cycles visibility turned off to make it look like its a part of the object underneath it.
