Ethan Hawke tells Sydney Sweeney his unique method for memorizing massive amounts of dialogue by treating it like a personal journal. ​"What I do, and I started doing this a really long time ago, I handwrite everything like it's my journal. When I'm memorizing, I'm not memorizing from a typewritten final draft page. I don't want to have that in my brain, and I don't want irrelevant stage directions to be part of it." ​"And then I do it again to see what I remember and what I don't remember. I try to write it from memory. And then I look, and I see what I got wrong. That process really helps me." ​"Then I try to record it with no acting.
