The Undercroft beneath the Lincoln Memorial and it’s a fascinating story that’s suddenly in the news because the public can finally see it. The Lincoln Memorial sits on what used to be swampy, marshy land (the Potomac Flats) that was reclaimed from the river through dredging and filling. When construction started in 1914, engineers knew the soft soil couldn’t support the massive marble structure and the huge statue of Lincoln without it sinking. Their solution was to excavate down roughly 40–50 feet and install about 120–122 massive concrete pillars (sometimes called piers or piles). These were driven all the way down to solid bedrock. The pillars support the entire weight of the memorial above. The huge open space they created underneath, a cavernous, roughly 50,000-square-foot structural chamber (nearly twice the size of the memorial itself) is called the Undercroft. For over 100 years this space stayed hidden from the public. It was basically a giant concrete forest of towering pillars holding everything up, with some original construction graffiti still visible on them and even stalactites from water seeping through over time. The National Park Service has turned part of it (about 15,000 square feet) into a new museum and exhibit space. You can now walk in and see the actual massive concrete supports that were put in because of the swampy ground, along with interactive exhibits about the engineering challenges, the memorial’s construction, and its powerful role in American history (including civil rights moments like Marian Anderson’s concert and MLK’s “I Have a Dream” speech). It officially opens to the public on June 25, 2026, with timed-entry tickets required (free admission, small service fee for advance reservations). It’s already getting a lot of attention in the media as one of Washington’s “best-kept secrets” finally revealed.

The Cubs sued the rooftop across the street — Wrigley View Rooftop — for filming and streaming their games without a license. They claim it’s unauthorized commercial use of their broadcasts. The rooftop owners argue they’re just letting fans watch live from their deck, not pirating the TV feed. It’s still going on, last I checked. Classic Cubs-rooftop tension. The Cubs bring in an enormous amount of traffic to an already congested area. People that live in Wrigleyville know this and know what to expect during the baseball season.

Peter Thiel moved to Buenos Aires to get out of California before a proposed ballot measure called the “Billionaire Tax” could hit him. It would’ve been a one-time 5% wealth tax on people with over a billion dollars, he’s worth around 15 billion. By leaving the state, he dodges it completely. He’s been saying he’s tired of California’s taxes and regulations for a while. Argentina was just the place he picked. California still has way more billionaires than anywhere else. The latest counts put it at around 200 to 246 billionaires living there, even after the wealth tax talk. Only about six prominent ones actually left ahead of the proposed 5% billionaire tax, folks like Peter Thiel, Larry Page, Sergey Brin, and a couple others. That’s a tiny percentage, like 3% or less of the total. For millionaires, California still leads the country by a wide margin. The number who leave each year is real, but most of the changes in millionaire counts come from people getting richer or poorer, not from moving. The “ridiculous taxing the rich” hasn’t caused a collapse yet. California still dominates the ultra-wealthy lists.

Elon Musk has 14 children with four different women. One of them, his firstborn Nevada, passed away as an infant from SIDS back in 2002. So he’s got 13 living kids right now. The count breaks down like this: six with his first wife Justine, three with Grimes, four with Neuralink exec Shivon Zilis, and one with Ashley St. Clair. People are always judging Elon for having so many children. I think its wonderful and people did have big families before it became so expensive.

The worst school incident happened at Bryanston High. A group of boys jumped him from behind while he was eating a sandwich, kicked him in the head, and pushed him down concrete stairs. They kept beating him after he fell, his face was so swollen his own brother Kimbal couldn’t recognize him. He was hospitalized for about a week and needed nose surgery years later. When he got home from the hospital, his dad Errol didn’t comfort him. Instead he made Elon stand there while he yelled at him for an hour, calling him an idiot and worthless, and basically taking the bully’s side. Elon and Kimbal have both described their dad as emotionally abusive overall. This goes to show that a persons past does not define their future. Overcoming childhood trauma in a positive way can enhance the future.

Madison Preparatory Academy is a public charter high school in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Recent data shows about 37% of students proficient in reading and 27% in math, so basically 65% can’t read. Their graduation rate is indeed around 95%, which they celebrate. It’s a mostly Black, low-income school The gap between test scores and graduation rate isn’t unique to them, it happens when schools prioritize passing students along over strict academic standards. Who exactly is benefiting from this? The Principal and teachers are getting paid for what?

It’s a solid suburban school in a fast-growing, affluent area. Walnut Grove lets teachers never let students slack off or do they push kids through who can’t read. Reading proficiency is strong around 85%, above the state average. Parents rate the teachers highly for engaging lessons. Yes, this school is in a wealthy area, but behavior is taught to children from their parents. Schools that allow disrespectful behavior and are not concerned with education only with turning out fake diplomas.

Tim Sheehy, the Navy SEAL senator, called her out on hypocrisy. He reminded her she’s been pushing the idea that troops should defy orders they think are illegal, yet she was demanding Hegseth blindly follow her line of questioning and admit something damaging. He basically told her a combat veteran doesn’t need lectures on duty or manhood from someone trying to score political points by undermining the military’s chain of command. According to the clips, she looked pretty uncomfortable and hid her face while he laid into her double standard. Last November, Slotkin organized a video with five other Democratic lawmakers who had military or intelligence backgrounds. They spoke directly to active-duty troops and intelligence officers, telling them the biggest threat to the Constitution right now is coming from inside the country, not abroad. They said, quote, “You can refuse illegal orders… You must refuse illegal orders. No one has to carry out orders that violate the law or our Constitution.” It came right after concerns about how the Trump administration was using the military domestically. Sheehy and others called it out as trying to undermine the chain of command and encourage troops to second-guess lawful orders from their commander-in-chief. What Slotkin said was was poor judgment, and from a American standpoint, it’s seen as undermining a Republican president before he even gave an order. She was reckless and partisan with the troops. Her going against the President shows what level she will go in an attempt to destroy America.
