Hansi Flick’s counter pressing; high line; offside trap; ball recovery; verticality & finishing in few seconds. What I love most is that Adeyemi’s last run to make it even easier for Raphinha’s second goal.

Pedri's passing empathy before Raphinha’s 3rd goal. Every game, he does this. I really don't know what Barcelona could have done without Pedri. And his team mates considers him 'different'. Top guy!

This for those who are expecting Hansi Flick to change the spine of his system; ultra-aggressive counter pressing; high line OOP, frequent verticality. He’s not going to change it. You see that when the last line is very high, you are able to compress the pitch, then you have small space to defend the ball side. Remember that teams are vulnerable when they win the ball back because within the first 2—3 seconds they are still in the defending shape, before the reset into proper attacking shape, you can win the ball back & hit them. Here is a clear example. Hansi WILL NOT change.

The whole idea of Hansi Flick’s counter—pressing here. Win the ball, initiate attack immediately. “no playmaker in the world can be as good as a good counter-pressing situation” — Jurgen Klopp. Hansi Flick agrees & the third goal came from it.

Rodri's cover + one more reason Yamal is really special. Today Yamal shows he has a functioning right foot in ‘tight space’. People talk of angle bias, Yamal has none. Sometimes, he makes the trivela (going across his right foot with his left foot). You can’t cage him.

We know him for receiving the ball to feet. Then he manipulates the defender to playmake. Now, (since last season) Yamal has constantly shown you can make the pass into the space, while he gets off his shot. Lol, you are looking at a walking 50G/A

What I meant was that I love when my CDMs stay more stationery & horizontal than mobile & vertical. It gives the team more security & allows them to read the game better — they then have the entire game in front of them. I love them staying put. Marc Bernal is 18 and Barcelona is a bit of luck away from dominating Europe again; consider Bernal—Gavi—Pedri trio as the next big thing. I mean it. Bernal has room for development, I thought he got a bit too excited and didn’t recognize the third man as he makes a little run into spaces he shouldn’t occupy. He is part of the REST DEFENCE, no? Could Flick have instructed him to attack spaces? I would say no. We had Olmo & Fermin in the game. He had a fantastic outing. Offer pass; receive pass; receive pass–offer pass was his game all night long. Big room for development still & this could be because he started as a CMF. We have a gem.
