“Walang park culture sa Pilipinas kasi mas gusto ng tao sa malls.” 🤷🏻‍♂️ Yes, the government should invest more on parks and public spaces.

I will never understand the public’s fascination over this butt-ugly lion. It’s causing not just too much traffic, but the piling of cars is a clear hazard to motorists given the steep ascent in this portion of the Kennon Road.

Wow, massive crowd so far here at the Quirino Grandstand for the INC’s National Rally for Peace and it’s still swelling really fast! They’ll fill the whole area in an hour.

Yesterday, my Kapampangan supplier brought me this early 19th cen “Tortuga” (pawikan) gold cross which his agent collected in Batac, Ilocos Norte. The maximalist exuberance of early colonial Ilocano jewelry is best exemplified in this specimen where no portion was left unadorned.

This revolving footed ritual dish from Palawan called “dulang” is one of the most beautiful objects in my collection. Babaylans would have their dulang custom-carved to the specifications which deities would reveal to them through dreams.

Finally, na try ko rin ang Iligan lechon, and indeed, it’s giving the Cebuanos a run for their lechon fame! I like it, but if you are not a fan of salty and MSG-heavy lechon, this may not be for you or eat it with lots of rice! Which one do you like more, Cebu’s or Iligan’s?

$Ramdam mo talaga pag sa ibang bansa ka kung how much we overpay for food and basic services! Anyway, Kuala Lumpur remains a favorite food destination. Amazing food at a fraction of the prices we pay back in the Philippines!$

Eto namang PNP, one lane lang ang barricade. Doesn’t take rocket science to know that you just have to go to the other side and pass freely. Indeed, I live in a very interesting neighborhood. Mabuhay ang lahat ng mga manggagawa!

It’s almost 8:00 pm and punong-puno pa rin ang Luneta Park ng tao. This disproves anyone who thinks that we don’t have any park-going culture in the Philippines, and that we don’t need parks and open spaces.

Iloilo City’s now famous Iloilo River Esplanade has inspired so many LGUs all over the country to develop their own riverbanks and transform them into public spaces which everyone can enjoy. But have you heard of the newly-launched “Iloilo Sunset Boulevard”?

The Jaro Floodway successfully kept Iloilo City flood-free during the recent onslaught of Typhoon Tino. This Japan-funded floodway was designed to divert the runoff from the Aganan and Tigum Rivers away from the Jaro River and the city center, and into the Iloilo Strait.
