Fair Catch Kick… In the NFHS RULE BOOK there is a strange rule, that I personally had never seen. By rule, a team that makes a fair catch on a punt is allowed to attempt a “free” kick from the spot of the fair catch on the next play. The free kick must be either a place kick or a drop kick. If the kick goes between the uprights, they get three points! This is Pee Dee Academy in South Carolina executing this play last Thursday with 1 second on the clock for the win.

In 1999, the rarest of occurrences in football history happened. 3-time defending state champion West Monroe faced 3-time defending state champion Evangel in the Class AAAAA state championship game. The Rebels won state titles in Class AAAAA in 1996, 1997, and 1998. The Eagles won state titles in Class AAA in 1996, 1997, and 1998. The only other meeting between the two teams was a 14-14 jamboree tie a year earlier at LA Tech. It was built up as the Game of the Century in LHSAA football. It set the record for attendance at the Superdome Prep Classic. Complete game found here:
