Father Who Killed Son Was Former Sheriff Deputy That Was Fired For OD of Confiscated Fentanyl via 916times Viewer Discretion is Advised The Sacramento Sheriff’s office has confirmed that the suspect they shot this morning following a chase on I-5 was formerly one of their own. This morning a mother in Elk Grove called to report the father was threatening their children. Police arrived to find the father fatally stabbing his 11-year-old son with a 6 year old present. The Elk Grove Police Department confirmed the father is 40-year-old Marvin Morales, a former Sacramento County deputy who was found to have lied about a 2023 fentanyl overdose following an investigation. 916 Times reported on Bodycam footage, pictured here, last year that showed Morales collapsed in the bathroom in the sheriff’s department, with a pipe in his hands and other things exposed that have been blurred out. He was revived with narcan by other deputies who saved his life. Today that same department had to shoot him. He obtained the fentanyl laced dope from a person he arrested at a gas station in Sacramento. This is a developing story. #sacramento #elkgrove
