A D.C. woman was arrested in the apartment building where she pays a monthly rent to live in. She told 7News the Channel Square Apartments called police on her after she tried to teach tenants about their rights. Tenants told 7News they feel this is retaliation for their reports and complaints about conditions inside.

7News spoke with that man Monday; his name is Rafael Jauregui and he said he had taken his seven kids to the Nationals-Orioles game Saturday, then bought them dinner at the Chipotle. The five youngest kids, ranging in age from a four-year-old girl to a 14-year old boy, were with Rafael in the restaurant when he says a fight broke out. Jauregui said he and the kids were backed into a corner. “My son said on the way home, 'Papa, I can’t unsee that,'" he said. MORE:

A D.C. mother is facing charges for allegedly killing one of her two-month-old twins. Investigators said the 25-year-old mother left her 13-month-old daughter and her twin brother in a playpen in a Southeast apartment for days. The four teens accused in the violent brawl inside a Chipotle restaurant in D.C.'s Navy Yard neighborhood appeared before a judge, who praised their progress while warning them to stay on the right path. 7News was inside the courtroom as the judge reviewed reports showing all four teens are complying with court-ordered conditions, following curfews, participating in summer youth employment programs, and making positive progress. While all four requested later curfews, the judge denied three requests and approved a one-hour extension for one teen. The judge reminded the teens that their families are supporting them and said they should focus on school, sports and building their futures—not on returning to court. He also warned that a single misstep could change the outcome of their cases.
