It is disappointing and disheartening that a constituted authority: the Governor of a state is calling on external bodies to investigate a matter that falls squarely within his own jurisdiction. If he genuinely believes the kidnapping of the Orire victims was political, why not constitute an independent panel of inquiry and allow it to investigate the allegations transparently? He has the constitutional authority and the resources to do so. Instead of taking concrete steps to establish the facts, he is more interested in chasing shadows and making political noise.
