Always a fan favourite at #ILA26: the German #A400M 🇩🇪✈️ The German Air Force operates the largest A400M fleet in the world. They contribute vital airlift capabilities and are a key asset of force projection in international NATO missions. Airbus is currently exploring additional capabilities for this advanced military transport aircraft, such as: ➡️ Extending its cargo capacity from 37 to 40 tonnes. ➡️ Using it as a mothership for drones. ➡️ Implementing satellite-based navigation. ➡️ Equipping it with a modular firefighting kit.

An exciting step for European sovereignty at ILA Berlin: "Team Gen 6", a group of eight leading German defence and aviation companies signed a strategic positioning paper. The German and French governments have announced a realignment of the European Future Combat Air System (FCAS). While the development of the overarching 'System of Systems' is progressing as before, the 6th-generation fighter aircraft integrated within it requires a new, agile industrial setup. Together with AUTOFLUG GmbH, Diehl Defence, HENSOLDT, Liebherr Group, MBDA Deutschland, MTU Aero Engines, and Rohde & Schwarz, we at Airbus Defence and Space stand ready to take on the responsibility for a 6th-generation fighter aircraft. Closely integrated with the German partners, the Spanish industry is also forming up with the companies Indra, Airbus, grupo_oesia, GMV, ITP Aero, and Sener. As Team Gen 6, we have the capabilities and the capacities. Now, we are looking for close alignment with policymakers and the Air Force to drive forward a superior European air combat system for collective security.

The first 'Made in India' Airbus C295 military transport aircraft has conducted its first test flight from the Final Assembly Line in Vadodara 🇮🇳, marking a milestone for Indian aviation and defence. This maiden test flight is a crucial step in the aircraft's post production testing process. As the first of 40 aircraft to be built in India, the test flight advances the programme's objective of delivering the first 'Made in India' C295 aircraft this year to the Indian Air Force. A game changer in the Government of India's 'Make in India' vision, the C295 India programme is the first instance of a military aircraft being manufactured in India by the private sector. The programme's progress reflects the steady and dedicated work of Airbus, Tata Advanced Systems Limited and the several Indian MSMEs, which are manufacturing parts for the aircraft across India. We thank the Indian Air Force, Ministry of Defence and Government of India, for their unwavering trust in us. Announced at #PAS25: the Armée de l'Air et de l'Espace has declared the Full Operational Capability of its #A400M fleet. An essential milestone that goes beyond capabilities, it concerns the full fleet envelope of the A400M operative. A Full Operational Capability is based on aircraft, but also is about crews, maintenance, training and infrastructure, including the last certification reached with the aircraft: the ability to drop a special-forces boat for the French Navy Commandos, which was achieved last February. With 24 aircraft and more than 10 years in operation, the French A400M fleet has achieved a definitive level of maturity.

✅ First #C295 Search and Rescue aircraft for Spain just delivered! The aircraft, assembled at the Airbus Final Assembly Line in San Pablo, Seville, Spain, will perform its ferry flight in the coming days to join the Ejército del Aire y del Espacio 46th Wing at Gando Air Base in Gran Canaria. As the natural replacement for the fleet of CN-235 VIGMA aircraft, the C295 SAR provides a major leap in range and tactical capabilities. The platform stands out for its high versatility in both maritime and overland operations. It is fully optimized to conduct national and international search and rescue missions, as well as maritime security operations, and the prevention of illicit trafficking. Airbus will also deliver two additional maritime surveillance C295 aircraft this year out of a total order of eight, alongside the first two C295 aircraft in transport configuration from the Spanish Ministry of Defence’s 2025 order. The delivery of the first C295 in Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MPA) configuration for Spain, the most complex mission variant of the C295 to date, is planned for 2028. To satisfy this growing global demand, Airbus is executing a production ramp up at its Final Assembly Line (FAL) in Seville, boosting its cadence from 10 to 13 C295 aircraft per year. The C295 remains the undisputed leader in its segment, holding an 85% world market share with 335 orders across 39 countries.

May we present? This is the Valkyrie. Airbus is working at full throttle to offer the German Air Force an operational Uncrewed Collaborative Combat Aircraft (UCCA) system by 2029. In Manching, near Munich, the company is currently preparing the first two Valkyries it acquired from its US partner Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc. with a sovereign European mission system, the Multiplatform Autonomous Reconfigurable and Secure (MARS) system, for their maiden flight. MARS also contains an AI-supported software brain called MindShare which not only replaces the missing pilot, but is also capable of coordinating entire mission groups by being distributed across many manned and uncrewed platforms. New milestone achieved! The #Airbus U850 #SIRTAP has successfully completed its first taxi at the Ejército del Aire y del Espacio Getafe Air Base runway, right next to our facilities. During this taxi test, the aircraft is fully controlled from the ground control station. The test verifies the correct integration and performance of the braking system, steering function, navigation sensors, and commands from the control station itself. Why is this key? It confirms the seamless interaction between hardware, software, and vehicle dynamics. It also validates the aircraft's ability to maneuver safely on the ground before progressing to high-speed taxi trials and the subsequent flight test campaign. Spanish Air and Space Force Eurofighters are now protecting Canarian airspace 🛡️ As part of the Spanish Air and Space Force's Ejército del Aire y del Espacio modernisation plan, eight Eurofighters have just joined the 46th Wing at Gando Air Base (Gran Canaria), from where they are already responsible for monitoring, controlling, and protecting Canarian airspace and NATO's southwestern flank. ✧ These are the first Eurofighters out of a total of 20 that will progressively replace the veteran F-18 fleet that has served for decades in the archipelago. Although this deployment begins with fighter jets from the 14th Wing (Albacete), aircraft from the 11th Wing (Morón de la Frontera, Seville) will also be added later. In this way, Gando joins Morón and Albacete as the third operational base for the Eurofighter in Spain. 🇪🇸 ℹ️ With 769 orders, the Eurofighter is Europe's most advanced fighter jet, combat-proven and with more than one million hours flown across its entire fleet. Its twin-engine design provides essential flight safety for long-range missions over the Atlantic, specifically for the protection of the Canary Islands. The Eurofighter programme is an indispensable economic engine in Spain, securing more than 26,000 direct and indirect jobs within the national technological sector until 2060 and safeguarding the country's industrial sovereignty and strategic autonomy.
