My fellow young people , let me be straightforward. What our parents are trying to do is not restricting our freedoms or police our bodies. Instead, they are reminding us that if we are not careful, tomorrow, when they are no longer with us, this country will not survive if we continue living this indulgent life with almost no moral compass. They say that difficult times create strong people. This is precisely what the challenging times of the 1950s did for our parents. None of us can deny that they have been strong for us. The same saying goes: strong people create good times. These are the good times we are currently living in, where we can eat, drink, and wear what we want. However, unfortunately, these good times create weak people who end up creating bad times again. Do you really want to be that weak person who will create bad times for Rwanda? I hope you are not, and I hope you never will be! I want to be strong! The last time I listened to Maria Yohana’s song “Indinde,” I kept asking myself, are we capable of safeguarding what the previous generation has achieved so far? Do we have young men as courageous as Rwigema, Paul Kagame, or Kabarebe? Young men who built nations in their 20s and 30s? We must stop our nonsense and realize that if we don’t wake up from our slumber, we are condemning Rwanda’s future to match our current state of mind. As for me, I have chosen a sober life. I know that Rwanda is not like any other country. We are surrounded by enemies whose ideology is genocide and extermination. I preserve my mind, my body, and my soul, knowing that if and when the enemy comes, he should find me fit and ready, both physically and mentally.

After listening to Paul Kagame's speech at the Unity Club meeting on leadership as he applied the socratic method (maieutic), as well as Museveni's remarks at this meeting with British officers , I must say that these two leaders are underrated in Africa. I admire their articulate thoughts, philosophical insights, and the wisdom they share. Uganda and Rwanda enjoy stability primarily because our leaders can think clearly. In contrast, just across the border in Burundi, there is a president who insists that one cannot lead effectively unless married. Meanwhile, the Congolese president claims that some of his citizens are not truly Congolese and you still wonder why some nations collapse and fail? The answer is simple, they become ideologically bankrupt first...Security, fuel, lack of jobs, divisions etc those are the results. If you're reading this, I urge you to educate yourself. Invest in your children's education by enrolling them in schools that emphasize critical thinking. Engage in discussions on philosophy and ideology with them. We must avoid producing individuals who merely memorize what colonial teachers wrote in academic books. What we need are critical thinkers. Andrew M. Hello dear #Ugandans can we just agree that this young man was brilliant ? How old was he again ? I don’t want to enter the debate on whether he delivered in his promises or not but it seems like he knew what he wanted to achieve ! Moral of the story don’t just smoke weed but have a plan!
