The documentary that the BBC refused to air - Gaza: Doctors Under Attack - won a Bafta last night. The documentary shows the targeting, detainment and torture of medics in Gaza by Israeli authorities. The decimation of Gaza’s healthcare system including the detention of healthcare workers is central to Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza. Amnesty awarded Gaza: Doctors Under Attack at the Amnesty Media Awards last week. The work of everyone involved in making this documentary and fighting for it to be broadcast shows the importance of journalists willing to speak truth to power. #Bafta #Baftas

🚨BREAKING: More than 100 peaceful protestors have been arrested today under terror laws. Amnesty legal observers attended to document the arrests and any human rights violations. The arrests are yet another attack on freedom of speech. Those arrested today could face very long prison sentences simply for peacefully opposing the government, over their abuse of counterterrorism powers to punish direct action protests. This is part of an ongoing crackdown on our right to protest, one of the most effective tools we have to hold our leaders to account for risking complicity in the genocide in Gaza, the climate crisis and other vital human rights issues. We must see an end to these extreme and punitive measures, and the proscription of Palestine Action lifted.

Thank you Pep Guardiola for using your platform. Governments killing, displacing and dehumanising millions across the world want to make us think it's normal. But Guardiola is right. We can't look away. And we cannot accept it. What is being asked of us right now is to fight for justice, for every single human. You're not alone. Let's do it together. 🕯️ PepTeam

Everyone should watch this speech. "The irony of accepting an award for covering a genocide in the very country that enables that genocide should not be lost." AJ Faultlines documentary, Kids Under Fire, won "Outstanding War or Violence Conflict Coverage" at the 2026 News #Emmys in New York City yesterday. Josh Rushing dedicated the award to journalists killed by Israeli forces.

Breaking: Today's mass arrests of peaceful protesters in Trafalgar Square under UK terrorism law are yet another blow to civil liberties in this country - and made all the more outrageous by the Metropolitan Police's own U-turn. The High Court ruled in February that the proscription of Palestine Action was unlawful. The Met rightly said it would stop making arrests. It has now gone back to its old, failed policy - mass arrests of people holding pieces of card, including today an elderly woman with walking sticks. This is not policing. This is the state criminalising dissent. Take action now with thousands of other Amnesty International supporters and sign the petition to end all prosecutions against these peaceful protesters.

🚨BREAKING: Hundreds arrested in Parliament Square for peaceful protest against ban of Palestine Action When the Government is arresting people under terrorism laws for sitting peacefully in protest, something is going very wrong here in the UK. Peaceful protest is a fundamental right. People are understandably outraged by the ongoing genocide being committed in Gaza and are entitled under international human rights law to express their horror. Amnesty has long criticised UK terrorism law for being excessively broad, vaguely worded and a threat to freedom of expression. Today's response only further demonstrates that our concerns were justified. Any restriction on the rights to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly must be lawful, necessary and proportionate to achieving a legitimate aim. Criminalising speech in this context is only permitted when it incites violence or advocates hatred. Expressing support for Palestine Action does not, in itself, meet this threshold.

Islamophobia isn't just about hate. It's an industry. And it's making a lot of people a lot of money. This #IslamophobiaAwarenessMonth, we learn from the past to build a better future together and challenge a toxic political agenda seeking to other communities. 🗣️: Taj Ali, historian and journalist Taj jackson.ali1

Tomorrow the Court of Appeal rules on the ban of Palestine Action as a terrorist organisation. In February, the High Court ruled the ban unlawful. The Government decided to appeal this decision and police have continued to arrest people who have peacefully opposed the ban. Amnesty International has intervened in this case because the Palestine Action ban was a grave misuse by the government of sweeping counter terror powers.

As billions around the world tune in to the World Cup, this is what has happened to football in #Palestine. It has become one of the world's most devastated sporting landscapes. Since October 2023, Israeli forces have killed at least 1,007 Palestinian athletes and sports professionals and destroyed more than 260 sports facilities. Players have been killed. Pitches reduced to rubble. Teams scattered. Careers cut short. And still, somehow, Palestinians are #StillPlaying

WARNING: This film contains scenes some viewers may find disturbing. A few weeks ago Keir Starmer said he doesn’t think Israel is committing genocide in Gaza. But we investigated and now have the evidence - this is genocide. Watch this 2 minute video to understand how we arrived at this conclusion. Read the full report here: #EndGazaGenocide

One year ago today, the Government proscribed the direct action protest group Palestine Action as a terrorist organisation. Since then, over 3,300 arrests have been made of people holding placards. Treating protest as terrorism leaves the door wide open for governments to suppress protest movements in the future, while clamping down on solidarity with Palestinians right now. We cannot challenge injustice and uphold our own rights if we cannot come together to protest. We cannot allow the government to take that right away.
