President, American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine @ChamberUkraine
Videos

I am at the site of a truly horrendous Russian missile attack. Overnight, one of the largest American investments in Ukraine – Flex – an active member of the American Chamber of Commerce was hit by Russian missiles. This was not only an attack on Ukraine. It was an attack on American business. Two missiles struck the factory, where 600 employees were working the night shift. Thanks to strict safety protocols, every life was saved. Russia is not only devastating Ukraine — it is destroying and humiliating American business. The region neighbors the EU and has been considered the safest region in Ukraine. Now definitely not so. We call on President Trump to stand with American business and to confront Vladimir Putin’s campaign of destruction. Mukachevo, August 21, 2025

I’m here at McDonald’s by the Lukianivska metro station in Kyiv. This restaurant has been hit six times by Russian attacks. And yet — it’s open. Serving people. Creating jobs. Moving forward. So far this year, McDonald’s Ukraine has served over 100 million customers. And 33 of its female employees are currently serving in Ukraine’s Armed Forces. Ukrainians continue to show phenomenal resilience. It’s about people who refuse to stop living, working, and building — even under fire. Kyiv stands. Ukraine stands. And businesses that choose to stay, invest, and support their people stand united with Ukraine. This is what courage looks like in everyday life.

The New York Times front page article today: Russia Keeps Attacking U.S. Firms in Ukraine. The White House Is Silent. The article includes quotes from me. “Andy Hunder, the head of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine, called on Mr. Trump “to stand with American business in Ukraine” and “show Putin that the United States protects its own.” Full article below

Even on a day when much of Kyiv is without electricity, there’s light - and optimism - here at the Kyiv Zoo. McDonald's has just opened its 50th restaurant in Kyiv, running on a generator and full of families looking for warmth, food, and connection. Opening a new restaurant during a war is more than a business decision — it’s a statement of resilience, hope, and community. In the face of challenges, McDonald’s continues to show what it means to keep going. I’m lovin it - and inspired by it 💙💛

Overnight, Russian missiles attacked one of the largest American investments in Ukraine – Flex – an active member of the American Chamber of Commerce. Russia continues to destroy and humiliate US businesses in Ukraine, targeting companies that invest and trade on the US stock markets. Russia is not only destroying Ukraine – it is undermining US leadership, values, and US business. Russia is not seeking peace; it is attacking American interests and values. We are calling on President Donald Trump to stand with American business in Ukraine. Stand with the values that built America. Show Putin that the United States protects its own. Luckily, no employees were killed in the missile strike due to the company observing stringent safety measures. On my way to Mukachevo now

Here in Kyiv this morning, standing on John McCain Street after another brutal night of Russian attacks. One of the buildings behind me has been severely damaged. At least six people have been killed in Kyiv, with others still trapped under the rubble. A medical center just steps away was also hit. These are civilian areas — homes, clinics, everyday life — targeted on the eve of Thanksgiving. As Americans gather with family this week, I’m asking everyone to keep Ukraine in your thoughts and conversations. The attacks we’re seeing are a reminder of why continued U.S. support — especially defensive air systems and missiles — remains vital. These defenses save lives. They protect hospitals, apartment buildings, and the people who live in them.

As Americans celebrate Independence Day, here in Ukraine we endured a night of terror — 500 Russian aerial attacks across the country, including in Central Kyiv. The cost is staggering. More than 50% of the 600 members of AmCham Ukraine 🇺🇦 have suffered direct damage to their offices, factories, and infrastructure during the war. American business is being destroyed by Russia. We are calling on the U.S. Administration, on the The White House and on Donald J. Trump to act — to protect American business in Ukraine by urgently providing the defensive equipment needed to stop these attacks. 🇺🇸 America was built on the values of independence, freedom, and justice. 🇺🇦 Ukraine is fighting for those very same principles today. Together, we stand united. #IndependenceDay #DefendFreedom #AmericanBusiness #4thOfJuly

As the temperatures drop, Russia increases attacks on civilian infrastructure, with 3000 drones and 100 missiles last week alone, hitting residential buildings. Half a million people in Kyiv without electricity and water on Friday. Calling on the US to provide the Tomahawk missiles for Ukraine to be able to defend itself against Russia’s deadly attacks as winter approaches

Russia’s army is now the slowest moving invading army on the battlefield in 100 years of warfare. So the Russians target civilians by destroying electricity transmission, water supply and heating systems - targeting city population to freeze in the cold dark winter. Another really loud night here in Kyiv with explоsіons overhead as Russia launched Twenty-Four ballistic missiles. Many were intercepted by Ukraine’s Air Defense. This morning all back at work, back at school, back to daily life. Kyiv Stands. Ukraine Stands. All standing United

Last night, Putin’s missiles brutally attacked Kyiv. Russian drones tore through the roof at one of the holiest sites in Orthodox Christianity: the Cathedral of the Dormition. For nearly 1,000 years, this Pechersk Lavra monastery has stood through wars, invasions, and empires. Last night, its roof burned as flames lit the night sky. Then something remarkable happened. The heavens opened. Rain poured down, helping firefighters battle the blaze and protect this sacred place. Today, the work continues to save a monastery that has endured for almost a millennium. Kyiv stands. Ukraine stands. And the Cathedral of the Dormition of the Mother of God stands today.

Across most of Kyiv, the electricity has been down for many, many hours. And yet—inside the 300 Silpo Сільпо supermarkets across Ukraine —there is light. This place has become more than a store. It’s a designated space where people can charge their phones, keep working, heat up food, connect, and simply be. In the middle of darkness, it’s an island of continuity. An island of hope. Here you see business doing more than business—supporting communities, holding people together, quietly standing firm during a time of brutal Russian aggression against Ukraine. People from all walks of life gather here. No panic. No chaos. Just resilience. Just humanity. Just Ukraine. As Christmas approaches, we stand together—working, helping one another, believing in tomorrow. This is what resilience looks like. This is what community looks like. This is what courage looks like. God bless Ukraine. God bless all who stand with light in the darkness.

Today, Kyiv said farewell to Myron Spolsky A beautiful service was held at St. Michael’s Golden-Domed Cathedral in the heart of the city — a fitting farewell to someone who gave so much to Ukraine. Myron was one of the first members of the Ukrainian diaspora to return home after independence. In the early 1990s, he founded Vesuvio Pizza Kyiv - one of Kyiv’s very first pizzerias - and went on to lead Plast - Ukrainian Scouting Ukrainian Scouting Myron was a pioneer — someone who showed what it meant to believe in Ukraine’s future long before it was easy to do so. He inspired others from the diaspora to come back, build, and contribute to this country’s rebirth. Rest in peace, Myron

Another brutal night in Kyiv. Russian missiles again targeted the capital. Neighborhoods are waking up to damage and destruction. I’m sitting at home on this Sunday with no electricity - making coffee on a small camping gas stove. This is daily life in Ukraine. Last night a Russian ballistic missile targeted and hit the American Oreo factory in northern Ukraine — an American business operating here, investing here, standing here. It was targeted and destroyed. This isn’t just an attack on Ukraine. It’s a message. Russia is not only attacking cities - it is targeting and humiliating US & international business, Western investment, and the very idea that Ukraine has the right to build, grow, and partner freely with the world. Next week is the fourth anniversary of this brutal full-scale war. Four years of missiles. Four years of blackouts. Four years of loss. And yet Kyiv stands. Ukraine stands. And we stand united. We are tired, yes. But we are not broken. We rebuild. We continue. To everyone who continues to support Ukraine - thank you. Your support matters more than ever.

Destruction at this Commuter Train Station in Kyiv region. Russian Missile Strikes on civilian infrastructure in Ukraine continue The message I’m hearing in Kyiv is that “Chamberlain never won a Nobel peace prize”. Russia continues to destroy civilian infrastructure as they hold talks with Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.

Russia is humiliating and destroying American business. One in two members of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine has suffered damage or destruction of their facilities due to Russian missile strikes and direct attacks. These are American companies. American investments. American values. Now is the moment for the business community to stand together. To stand against Russia’s systematic destruction of American enterprise.

Good news today: Electricity is slowly being restored. The trams are running again. The trolleybuses are moving. Kyiv has the largest trolleybus network in the world - bigger even than what you see in Seattle or Zurich. And today, those wires above our streets are alive again. But listen closely to this video. This is the sound of Kyiv during war. Not silence. Not surrender. Generators. A constant mechanical hum from courtyards, cafés, office buildings, small shops — engines working around the clock to keep businesses open, to keep families warm, to keep the city functioning when the grid is under attack. Kyiv is moving. Ukraine is moving. And we are moving forward — together.

Standing in these lush Ukrainian cornfields during a full-scale war. Ukraine continues to feed the world. The corn I saw here will be harvested and shipped across borders, boosting global food security. 27 million tonnes of corn. From field to fork, Ukraine remains a true breadbasket of the world.
