🚨Thomas Tuchel on England’s World Cup semi-final defeat to Argentina. 🗣️ “I have to say it because everyone watched the same match. The referee and VAR completely lost control of this game. In a World Cup semi-final, mistakes like these are unacceptable. You work four years for moments like this, and then crucial decisions are handled with unbelievable incompetence.” “The challenge on Anderson? How is that not given? The offside decisions? The fouls ignored? VAR had every angle, every replay, every opportunity to correct obvious errors and they still failed. If technology cannot get the biggest decisions right on the biggest stage, then what exactly is it there for?” “I don’t want excuses because England also made mistakes, but don’t ask me to stay silent when my players are denied fair decisions. We are told to respect referees, yet who takes responsibility when they get it completely wrong? Nobody. They apologise after the tournament while our dream is already over.” “This is a World Cup semi-final, not a training match. The standards should be the highest in football, yet tonight they were nowhere near good enough. One bad decision can change history, and England were forced to play against both Argentina and a refereeing performance that simply wasn’t at the required level.” “Argentina are a fantastic team and they punished our mistakes, but I refuse to pretend the officiating had no impact. It did. The referee and VAR created controversy from the first whistle until the last, and that should embarrass everyone responsible.” “England leave with heartbreak. Not only because we failed to reach the final, but because every player will always wonder what might have happened if the biggest match of their lives had been officiated properly. That is impossible to accept.”

🚨Jamie Carragher warns Arsenal and Man City: “Chelsea have everything to win the Premier League!” Jamie Carragher: I’m going to say something that I know will upset a lot of people, but I genuinely believe Chelsea can win the Premier League this season. Everyone keeps talking about Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool, but people are seriously overlooking Chelsea. Look at the squad. You have Cole Palmer, you have Morgan Rogers, you have quality all over the pitch, and now they have Xabi Alonso in charge. That is a very dangerous combination. Chelsea don't look like a team that is missing one or two pieces. They look like a team that has almost everything required to compete for the title. And Alonso is a huge part of that. He knows how to build a winning team. He knows how to manage big personalities, organise a side and make players believe. So why are we acting as if Chelsea are outsiders? I'll tell you what I think: people are too obsessed with Arsenal and Manchester City to notice what Chelsea are building. If Palmer stays fit, Rogers adapts quickly and Alonso gets this squad playing the way he wants, Chelsea could surprise everyone. In fact, I'm going further. I don't just think Chelsea will compete for the Premier League. I think Chelsea can actually WIN it. And when that happens, people will suddenly pretend they saw it coming. But I'm telling you now: Chelsea should not be underestimated. They could be the team nobody wants to face this season.

🚨PAUL SCHOLES ON ARSENAL’S MIDFIELD: “THEY SHOULD HAVE SIGNED TIELEMANS!” 🗣️ Paul Scholes: “If Arsenal were serious about retaining the Premier League title and finally making a real push to win the Champions League, I honestly believe they should have gone for Youri Tielemans instead of Bruno Guimarães. Let me be clear, Bruno is a very good footballer. I have nothing against his quality. But football is not just about signing the biggest name or the player with the biggest reputation. Tielemans would have suited Arsenal’s football more. He is technically gifted, composed under pressure, excellent at progressing the ball, can dictate the tempo, arrive in the box and, most importantly, he understands how to operate in a possession-based system. And then you look at the other factors. He is cheaper, younger, and already has a serious trophy-winning résumé. Arsenal didn’t necessarily need another midfielder who would dominate the headlines, they needed someone who could complement what they already had and make the team more balanced. That’s where I think Arsenal got it wrong. Because if you spend huge money on Bruno Guimarães, you are expecting him to completely transform your midfield. But if Tielemans was available for significantly less, why spend more just because his name carries more weight? Sometimes Arsenal make football unnecessarily complicated. You don’t always need the most expensive player. You need the player who fits your system. And if Arsenal fail to win the Premier League or Champions League, people will eventually look back at decisions like this and ask one question: Did Arsenal sign the right midfielder, or did they simply sign the bigger name? For me, they chose the wrong one. ”
