It's been 12 (very) long years since 3G Capital (A Brazilian investment firm)... ...acquired Tim Hortons and immediately took to betraying the communities they serve. For those of you not in the know, 3G is a private equity firm and PE absolutely LOVES cheap labour. The cheaper the better. So they petitioned the government to import as many temporary foreign workers so they could get a hefty discount on labour. Guess who pays the difference? You do. Quality has vanished from Tim Hortons... ...just as quality is vanishing from our communities nwo that they've swamped us with people from an incompatible culture. So was it worth it, 3G Capital? Once Dunkin' gets back to Canada, you know what's going to happen next.

Yesterday, Ahsanul Hafiz upset the establishment with his win in Scarborough Southwest. Did he cheat? Unsure. But let's look at some numbers, using Hafiz's own version of his backstory. 1⃣ He started studying at the university of Windsor just one year after arriving to Canada from Bangladesh. The average cost of tuition at the UoW is around $31,110 CAD – $45,875 CAD. The average salary in Bangladesh is about $150–$220 USD per month. So forget the "immigrant who came with nothing" narrative. 2⃣ According to his backstory, Hafiz acquired his first Dominos franchise in 2004... while he was studying. A Domino's franchise typically requires a total initial investment of $120,000 to over $650,000, with a $25,000 initial franchise fee. How many students already burdened with debt can come up with that kind of money? 3⃣ Domino's franchise owners typically earn an annual net profit between $100,000 and $200,000+ per store. Let's meet in the middle and call it $150K per store. Hafiz owns 30 of them. That said, he's likely pulling in $4.5M/year. 4⃣ If elected as MPP for SS, Hafiz will draw a salary of $157,350 per year... ...which is absolute peanuts compared to what he's making through his Dominos franchises.
