Here is a Taliban commander who claims to enforce Sharia law patrolling the streets with his ‘pretty bacha.’ Don’t mistake the bacha for a girl, he appears wearing makeup in every clip filmed with the commander. This is the reality in Taliban-ruled Afghanistan: women are banned from public life while bacha bazi, the sexual exploitation of teenage boys, continues openly.

Riyasat Gul, the Taliban police commander in Panjwayi district, Kandahar, locally known as “Qazi Sahib,” or “Mr. Judge”, was caught sexually abusing a boy. Bacha bazi has become a disturbing feature of the Taliban’s brutal regime. Fun fact: Riyasat Gul is also known as the trusted bodyguard who helped Mullah Omar escape on his motorcycle during the U.S. bombing of Osama bin Laden’s compound in Kandahar in 2001.

Hamid Khurasani: “The Durand Line Is Our International Border, and the PTM Is an Indian-Backed Group” Four years ago, Tajik Taliban commander Hamid Khurasani was at the height of his power. After this interview, he was imprisoned and beaten, and most of his fighters were disarmed. In the video, Khurasani recognizes the Durand Line as the legitimate border between Afghanistan and Pakistan. He also alleges that Indian intelligence funded opposition to the border and supported the PTM.

زبان پشتو بیش از ۲۵۰ سال پیشینهٔ مکتوب و مدون ندارد؛ دستور زبان و اصول نوشتاری آن را نخستینبار انگلیسیها تدوین کردهاند و حتی از گنجینهٔ واژگانی مستقل و خالص برخوردار نیست. بخش بزرگی از واژگان آن برگرفته از زبانهای هندی، فارسی، عربی و ترکی است. چگونه میتوان چنین زبانی را تنها زبان رسمی کشوری اعلام کرد که مهد تمدن و زادگاه زبان و ادبیات فارسیدری است؟ اما پاسخ روشن است: تنها با توسل به زور، حذف زبانهای دیگر و اتخاذ رویکردی استعمارگرانه میتوان آن را بهعنوان یگانه زبان رسمی بر مردم تحمیل کرد.

Can I make the same kind of claim about Pashtuns using this video as evidence? Does this not raise serious questions about moral conduct and Islamic decency? Is this level of sexualization of Pashtun women even acceptable under Pashtunwali? Because it is clearly not acceptable in Islam.
