“What happens if the French don’t agree, and Royal Marines attempt to land people on a beach?” An answer came there none. Reform’s plan to use the Royal Navy relies on resources already committed to existing operations. Reform plan to use our River Class OPVs, three are due to be retired in 2028, the other five are deployed globally, including the security of the Falklands. How are Reform going to balance our defence responsibilities - they still have no-one who can talk about it in detail, as this plan shows. Interested to see who owns the risk of any fatalities during interdiction of a fragile overloaded dinghy; are Royal Navy personnel expected to shoulder that? How easy is that to do at night? How is their plan different to what Border Force already do? That’s quite aside from how the Royal Navy are expected to forcibly return migrants to French ports, irrespective of whether France is prepared to take them. Do Reform expect the Royal Navy to force their way into French ports? This is classic Reform populism. Red meat to their base.

Not the Aberdeen South by-election that Reform didn’t win. Or the Makerfield by-election that Reform didn’t win. Or the Arbroath and Broughty Ferry by-election that Reform didn’t win. Or the Gorton and Denton by-election that Reform didn’t win. Apparently Westminster by-elections aren’t big electoral tests. So why is he campaigning so hard against Count Binface?

“At this point I may as well join the Army” It’s hugely telling that both of these unemployed young people specifically mention the Army as a career option that they would rather be unemployed than consider, despite the latter having only two GCSEs. The Army is an incredible career, gives young people fantastic skills and opportunities and is almost unrivalled for social mobility. So with nearly 1 million NEETs why can we not convince young people like these that being in the Army is better than being unemployed?

There are serious and legitimate questions about the authenticity of the footage released by the MOD of the interdiction of the Russian Shadow Fleet vessel this morning. How is the cameraman ahead of the Marines clearing the stairwell to be able to film them coming towards him. How has the cameraman gone past the open doors of rooms that haven’t yet been cleared? How much of this has been staged for the cameras? I don’t doubt that a Russian tanker was seized and that the operation carried significant risk. I do question the PR and the desperate need for a win by the Government at the Royal Marines’ expense.

And they did, they stayed a little back, a little off the front lines” I served in Afghanistan. I saw first hand the sacrifices made by British soldiers I served alongside in Sangin where we suffered horrific casualties, as did the US Marines the following year. I don’t believe US military personnel share the view of President Trump; his words do them a disservice as our closest military allies. It’s sad to see our nation’s sacrifice, and that of our NATO partners, held so cheaply by the President of the United States.

Keir Starmer has been playing fast and loose with his ministerial appointments since the very start of his premiership. Serious questions need to be asked about the access Jonathan Powell had to classified information before he was in role.

“I barely know him! I barely know him!” The overwhelming take away from this clip is just how brittle Nigel Farage is. Simon Dudley’s sacking, a man he met “for two minutes”, shouldn’t elicit a response this ratty and thin-skinned under some fairly straightforward questioning. How would Farage react to scrutiny of something serious going badly because of his decisions leading a Reform Government, like the economy or a war? He’s a showman who simply doesn’t appear to have the mettle to lead this country.

“That means that, in this Parliament, we will spend £270 billion more on defence than we would otherwise have done.” This is a lie from Keir Starmer. And it’s a lie that has been repeated by Cabinet ministers repeatedly trying to gaslight the public since. £270 billion is the cumulative total of defence spending over this parliament, not extra spending in addition to the budget. We’ve seen the Government is actually only prepared to spend an additional £15 billion this year to fund its Defence investment Plan and this week will announce huge cuts as a result. This insufficient commitment to defence spending saw both John Healey and Al Carns resign. Keir Starmer isn’t going to come to the House and correct the record, he’s already ‘quiet quit’, but the next time a minister uses this lie they should be dragged over the coals.
