🚨 URGENT | CIVILIANS FORCED TO FLEE AGAIN IN KEMBRU, PUNCAK Since 31 January 2026, Indonesian military operations by land and air in Kembru District, Puncak Regency have reportedly led to bombings of villages and refugee areas, forcing civilians to flee into forests and toward Sinak and Yambi (Puncak Jaya). Kembru had become a safe refuge for people displaced by earlier fighting in Pogoma and surrounding districts. It is also a key route for displaced families to access food and basic supplies. Villages affected on 31 January: Nilome, Kembru, Makuma, Tenoti, Kumikomo, Yigunggi, Gelegi, Aguit, Belaba. At the same time, internet access was cut from Saturday morning (31 Jan) to Sunday (1 Feb), preventing civilians from reporting what was happening. Reports from Human Rights Defenders (HRD) say: •Drones dropped bombs near civilian settlements and refugee locations. •Families fled on foot for dozens of kilometers through forests. •Babies, children, pregnant women, and the elderly are among those fleeing. •Sick people were left behind in refugee sites during the escape. •More civilians from Puncak are now seeking safety in Sinak and Yambi. ❗ Refugee areas should be protected, not targeted. HRD calls for: •An immediate stop to military operations in civilian and refugee areas. •Protection and humanitarian access for displaced communities. •Respect for the human rights of civilians in Papua. If operations are against armed groups, civilians must not be placed in harm’s way. Source: Human Rights Defenders (HRD)

Indonesia is burning Bird of Paradise plumes in West Papua. This is an attack on the heritage of the whole of New Guinea, Papua New Guinea as well as West Papua. Bird of Paradise is part of our shared culture from Sorong to Samarai. West Papuans are not only facing genocide and ecocide, but also cultural appropriation and destruction. Indonesia claims they are developing West Papua but really they despise our culture and only want our resources. We will never be safe under Indonesian rule. Pacific Islands Forum MSG Secretariat

Strong Condemnation of Indonesia’s Illegal Military Deployment in West Papua We strongly condemn the continued and escalating deployment of Indonesian military forces in West Papua. This military presence is illegal under international law and cannot be justified on the grounds of security or stability. The deployment is fundamentally driven by business and economic interests, particularly the exploitation of West Papua’s vast natural resources, rather than the protection or wellbeing of the Indigenous Papuan people. Military operations are strategically positioned to secure extractive projects, land control, and corporate interests, while Papuan communities face intimidation, displacement, human rights violations, and ongoing violence. West Papua remains an occupied territory, and Indonesia’s militarisation represents a clear violation of the Papuan people’s right to self-determination, as guaranteed under international law and the UN Charter. The use of military force to facilitate resource extraction constitutes a form of modern colonialism and must be urgently addressed by the international community. We call on the United Nations, regional bodies, and all states committed to human rights and international law to: •Demand an immediate halt to Indonesia’s military operations in West Papua •Ensure unrestricted access for UN human rights mechanisms, journalists, and humanitarian organisations •Hold Indonesia accountable for violations of international humanitarian and human rights law •Support a peaceful, just, and internationally mediated process that respects the rights and aspirations of the Papuan people Silence enables abuse. The people of West Papua deserve justice, peace, and the full recognition of their fundamental rights.

Indonesian commentator Connie Rahakundini accidentally exposes Indonesian hypocrisy on Palestine. War Criminal President Prabowo condemns genocide and occupation in Gaza – but commits genocide and occupation in West Papua. How dare you talk about freedom when you crush ours!
