I tested Kimi K3 vs Claude Opus 4.8 Same prompt, an armory bay with lighting, props, and detail. Top is Kimi K3, bottom is Opus 4.8. It's not even close. Kimi K3 built a full scene with textures, proper lighting, ammo crates, weapon racks, working detail everywhere. Opus 4.8 gave me a near empty room with a couple of floating tables. No doubt it beats Opus 4.8. Kimi K3 is Fable 5 level, and it's clearly better than GPT-5.6 Sol at 3D and games. An open weight model just matched the best closed models on the market. Let that sink in.

Qwen's output came out messy, text handling was off, and the composition felt unorganized next to Kimi's version. In my opinion, Qwen isn't second to Fable 5 either, and it's also below GPT-5.6 Sol. It's a solid model, but not at that tier. Kimi K3 is still clearly ahead here.

Fable 5.2 vs Opus 5.2 I've seen claims that Fable 5.1 and Opus 5 may now route to 5.2 so I ran the same Rocket test on both. The results looked much better than before. The outputs are seriously realistic. OpenAI better be ready for Astra’s successor.

Opus 5 (before) vs Opus 5 (now) I tested this rocket scene again after people started saying Opus 5 might be getting routed to Opus 5.2. And yeah, the difference is pretty clear. I know these models aren't deterministic, but I ran the same scene multiple times with Opus 5 before, and it never got this level of realism in one shot. If this is actually Opus 5.2, it could be a game-changing model for Anthropic. I’m starting to think Opus 5.2 could mog Astra in frontend and 3D.

DeepSeek V4.1 Flash vs Kimi K3 This is not one-shot from DeepSeek btw. The first result was boxy and not realistic, so I iterated with a $6 cap. Kimi did this in one shot, costing $6.95. Not as good as Kimi K3, but it did better than the other Flash models I’ve tried.

There were no major bugs like in Fable 5.1, and everything looks good. Sol: Bad at 3D scenes as usual, but Astra will definitely fix that. Gemini 3.8 Flash: I ran it in a loop for 35+ mins and it cost $0.95. It didn’t understand what it was fixing. The output here is the enhanced version. IMO, not even Terra level. Gemini's benchmarks say Opus 5-level, but maybe not for spatial understanding. Gemini has other use cases. Which one did the best job?

Ox Alpha is behaving weirdly. I gave both of them 3 scenes to build. When the scene is something it's likely seen before, it generates nicely. Give it an unfamiliar scene, and it just doesn't understand it. Kimi K3 nailed all 3 and understood exactly what I was asking for.
