Ministry is not the place to carry the problems of people and lose your own faith. Sometimes, the way people speak about their situations can be so heavy that it can challenge the faith of the person praying for them. When people come into church broken, discouraged, confused, and overwhelmed, they should encounter someone who looks like the answer is possible. Jesus demonstrated this. Even when people were mourning and telling Him that Lazarus had died, Jesus continued to give them hope. He declared Himself as the resurrection and the life. Don’t let the condition of the people drain the fire God put inside you. Smile. Give hope. Speak faith. Stand on the Word. Point people back to God. Because ministry is not merely about making people laugh, jump, or feel good for a moment. People should return home knowing what to do. They should leave with hope. They should leave with direction. They should leave with faith. They should leave believing that God can still turn their situation around.
