Happy 4 of July: Let’s make people angry! A powerful Black woman, the first Black woman elected as San Francisco District Attorney, the first woman, and the first Black person to serve as California Attorney General. She was also the second Black woman ever elected to the U.S. Senate and the first woman to serve as acting President of the United States when presidential powers were temporarily transferred to her during President Joe Biden’s medical procedure on November 19, 2021. Additionally, she was the first Black woman nominated for president by a major U.S. political party when she became the Democratic nominee in 2024! Thank you Secret Service Sam for breaking this down. Brandon Tatum built his whole brand selling Black pain and Black trauma as entertainment for white fragility. He packages our atrocities - our deaths, our struggles, our generational wounds - and serves them up to people who want permission to look away from accountability. That's the business model. That's the bag he chases. And the sad part? He does it with a Black face, so they feel comfortable consuming it. It gives the whole thing a stamp of approval it was never supposed to have. "See, even HE said it." That's the product. That's what gets the clicks, the speaking gigs, and the book deals. We see you, Tatum. The community sees you. James Talarico held a town hall in Houston specifically to connect with Black Texas voters - and tomorrow, he takes that same energy to Dallas. 🔥 I call Dallas ground zero for a reason. Ken Paxton and the Texas Supreme Court let thousands of votes go uncounted there, and the Black community has every right to hold that memory close. What makes Dallas even more significant is WHERE this happened - right in Jasmine Crockett's home district. That detail did not escape Dallas County voters. They caught it. And when the next election cycle rolled around, the rules quietly snapped back to what they were before. The community sees that pattern clearly. 👀 Now here's what deserves recognition - James showed up. He sat down with Black voters and engaged in real conversation, and that matters. He also said something that needed to be said out loud: securing Black voter support in Texas falls on HIM as the nominee. He owns that responsibility. Was Ralph Tresvant feeling the pressure of going solo? Yes, Ralph is the lead singer of New Edition, but when the group disbanded after the immense success of their “Heart Break” album, Ralph was the last to release his solo project. Naturally, he had to feel the pressure! Despite Bobby Brown’s massive success with his “Don’t Be Cruel” album, the music industry was still buzzing with hits. Bell Biv DeVoe released one of the biggest New Jack Swing hits, “Poison,” which sold over 4 million copies. Then came Johnny Gill with two number 1 hits, “Rub You the Right Way” and everyone’s favorite, “My, My, My.” And let’s not forget Ralph Tresvant’s self-titled album, “Ralph Tresvant.” Compared to his brothers, it couldn’t have been a flop; it had to be number 1. In my opinion, the New Edition fans didn’t disappoint. Just like they supported and loved the rest of the group, they did the same for Ralph. His album and his first single, “Sensitivity,” both reached number 1, making history! What other music group has broken up, with each individual achieving major success either solo or in another group, only to reunite in 1996 with the album “Home Again”? This album went number 1, featuring a number 1 single, “Hit Me Off,” and continues to have one of the biggest tours and the best Las Vegas residency. Although they weren’t inducted into the Rock ’n’ Roll Hall of Fame as they deserved, they received the most votes from the people, which is a win in my book! The largest Antebellum mansion in the South, dating back to 1859, has been destroyed by a fire and the #slaves that built the place are now free and truly resting. The #NottowayPlantation is one of the largest historic mansions in the South. It's located on the famous River Road between #BatonRouge and #NewOrleans. The mansion, which sits on 31 acres, is known for its massive white columns and grand balconies that overlook the #Mississippi River. On the other side, three-story rotundas overlooked the lawns, dotted with the large oak trees. The oldest tree on the property is about 162 years old—about the same age as the mansion, according to Nottoway's resort website. It's also a piece of #American #history🙄that stirs debate and dark memories. The #plantation was once owned by John Hampden Rudolph, a sugar planter. The 64-room, 53,000 square foot property was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. The fire at Nottoway Plantation in White Castle, LA—just outside Baton Rouge—broke out around 2pm on Thursday, May 15 and reduced the 160-year-old landmark to rubble. It's believed slaves build the home. By 1860, Randolph owned 155 enslaved #Black people who helped maintain the plantation. During the #CivilWar, Nottoway Plantation was able to avoid any major damage. Its early history is undeniably tied to a time of great injustice, personally I don’t have any remorse that this place is gone!!

This is Don Scott, he’s the #Virginia Speaker of the House. The night of the election he’s going to get at least 55 seats, he ended up getting 64 seats, flipping 13 #republican seats #democrat. They now have a supermajority! The reason why I bring this up, imagine if #President #JoeBiden would have had a 64 supermajority in the #Senate how much more could he have gotten done? #VotingMatters!!

Jerard “Jay” Jackson, 28, drove a group of friends from Illinois to Michigan’s Electric Forest Festival. But after he disappeared, those same friends reportedly returned to Illinois without him. Jay’s body was later found on June 30.
