I created a script for Maya that significantly speeds up and simplifies the animation adjustment. It is a huge time saver and replaces hours of routine work with just a few clicks done in seconds. The tests went well, so I think the beta is ready to be revealed. Here is a 🧵

Rigging 101: how rotations actually work. This is one of the basic traps almost every beginner rigger falls into. In tutorial I show several ways to blend rotations, using a typical IK/FK switch as an example. Also how to deal with joint orient using matrices, link below

I'm starting a new series of tutorials that explain the creature's locomotion in detail. We'll go through each part of the state machine and discuss various tricks and non-obvious moments. The rig and animations are free and available for download. All links below:

About a year ago I wrote a detailed breakdown of my locomotion in the Unreal Engine. There is an info about the state machines, animation blueprints, blendspaces like walk & jog/starts/stops/turns/leans, and many tricks, could be useful for game or technical animators. link below

I think it's time to share what I've been cooking for the last 6 months - a major update of the Smart Layer script. New modules, new features, full support of quadrupeds, wall walking, automated leans, feet sliding fix, pelvis correction, space switching, curve filters and more🧵

I've recorded a detailed space-switching tutorial in Maya, explaining everything starting from the theory and the very basics up to the complex examples and real applications: a small 🧵
