At today's House Foreign Affairs Committee Dems hearing, I once again urged the State Department to direct the acting U.S. Ambassador in Pakistan to visit Imran Khan in jail to observe his safety and wellbeing. I also reiterated that America must work to free Dr. Shakil Afridi, who continues to be imprisoned for helping the United States kill Osama bin Laden.

I received a committment from Secretary Antony Blinken that the admin. will work to ensure that the $9 billion in humanitarian aid provided by Congress will be allocated based on where there's the most urgent need - #Tigray #Rohingya #Artsakh #Sudan - rather than the most publicity. Watch ⬇️

We have seen a terrible civil war in #Ethiopia, particularly in the #Tigray region. Although a peace deal has been signed, it has not been implemented. I spoke before the House Appropriations Committee on the need to ensure that the #Tigrayan people actually receive U.S. aid.

Each year, a thousand girls from #Pakistan's religious minority communities are abducted & converted. The U.S. must work towards an end to this practice & there is no better place to start than achieving justice in the case of Priya Kumari, who was only 9 when she was abducted.
