A 65+ year-old marathon legend might miss the StanChart Nairobi Marathon… not because she’s injured, but because she couldn’t afford to register in time. 💔 So I was saying goodbye to ShoSho Carol today and telling her how excited I was to run the Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon with her, only to learn—to my absolute shock—that she missed registration because she simply didn’t have the registration fee at the time. By the time she was able to raise it, registration had already closed. 💔 While I would gladly sponsor her registration, entries are now closed. Carol has completed several StanChart Nairobi Marathons and is one of only a handful of active runners over the age of 65 who continue to inspire our running community. Many of you have run alongside her and know the passion and joy she brings to every race. I’m therefore making a humble appeal to Standard Chartered and the race director to please consider granting her an honorary entry this year. It would be such a shame for her remarkable streak to end because of circumstances like this. If Carol has ever inspired you, please repost this, tag Standard Chartered, and help us get this message to the race organizers. Calling on all Friends of Karura Forest to stand with FKF ( friends of Karura ) that has been doing a splendid job in managing and maintaining Karura Forest for the past 15 years . Keeping it safe for everyone who seeks some fresh air and safe green environment as a form of occasional escape from the buzzing concrete city life . FKF is currently being kicked out by this very greedy regime that is currently demanding that all payments must be done to ecitizen . We all know where that money will go should FKF be kicked out . FKF should let us know when they want all the friends of Karura to show up in solidarity We are very ready 🏃♀️🏃♀️
