Man …. Y’all have no idea how much this one means. Brad “Scarface” Jordan was part of the soundtrack to my childhood. My pop had Geto Boys on repeat when I was super young. And “Smile” was one of the first rap music videos I remember seeing when it first came out. He’s one of the best rappers of all time. But he’s also been in this community fighting for people. He’s advocated for health care access. He’s called on public officials to do right by his communities. He puts action behind his words. Crazy to now have his support. TX-18, let’s go!

It’s been a blessing to visit so many churches throughout the campaign. This morning I went back to my home church, Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church, to thank God for everything. Grateful to Pastor Cosby, church leadership, and the entire congregation for their support and prayers.

Yesterday I got back to Houston and heard for the first time that HISD planned to close 12 schools, including several in the 18th congressional district. The community should have a voice before a decision like this is made, but instead, Mike Miles announced this at the last minute, not giving people an opportunity to come to the meeting to speak out against it.
