Today, Labour blocked our Deportation Bill. Faced with a serious plan to fix our immigration system, they flat out refused to act. Our Bill set out real and immediate action. The automatic deportation for illegal arrivals, the disapplication of the Human Rights Act in immigration cases, and the powers to shut down abuse of our borders. It was bold, necessary, and ready to go, but Labour killed it. Instead, the Prime Minister is filling his time taking credit for the successful results of Conservative policies and being shut down by the Albanian Prime Minister, who confirmed there will be no UK returns hub with Albania. Labour must now explain to the public why they’ve chosen to keep the boats coming, protect the rights of criminals over victims, and ignore the very people they were elected to serve.
