Hear me out “Somaliland”! What you’re seeing in this video is just 1 seasonal river, one out of 100s across Somaliland. Now imagine the potential if we actually captured and redirected this water into reservoirs, dams, and wells. We can’t keep complaining about drought and water shortages every year while millions of cubic meters of rainwater are wasted, flowing straight into the sea. It’s long overdue for the government to implement a serious, nationwide strategy to manage rainfall and develop underground water resources. This level of neglect is simply unacceptable. The 194-kilometer Hargeisa–Odweyne–Burco road is a vital infrastructure project that will strengthen connectivity between western and eastern Somaliland. Its strategic and economic importance lies in providing a more direct route for the movement of goods, services, and people between the capital, Hargeisa, and the country’s second-largest city, Burco, reducing reliance on the longer route through Sheikh and Berbera. The Somaliland government should make this road a top development priority. Completing the project would stimulate economic growth, improve transportation efficiency, enhance regional integration, and contribute significantly to the modernization of Somaliland’s infrastructure. Whether we like it or not, Somaliland is for all Somalilanders. You cannot claim to want a nation called Somaliland while denying a part and parcel of the country (Eastern Sool) and pretending to care about Somaliland. And Fahima is no less a Somalilander than anyone else. Let’s be real here. Let’s learn from this experience, avoid repeating the mistakes that brought us to this point, and focus on moving forward together with better solutions. SOMALILAND HA NOOLAATO✊🏽!
