We are delighted to announce that the University of Cambridge has received a commitment of £190 million – the biggest individual donation to a British university in modern times – to establish the Rokos School of Government. This incredibly generous donation comes from investor and entrepreneur Chris Rokos. The mission of the new School is to equip future leaders to navigate increasingly complex domestic and global political environments in a challenging and rapidly-changing world. The Rokos School will build upon Cambridge’s world-leading expertise across the fields of public policy, politics and leadership, helping position us at the forefront of research and teaching in government and public leadership. Could a "universal vaccine" protect us from future virus outbreaks? 🦠 A Cambridge team has developed an entirely new way of making vaccines. Using data from virus surveillance programmes around the world, they used AI to design a ‘super antigen’. This can create a single vaccine that provides lasting protection against a broad range of viruses - like the Ebola or coronavirus group - even as they mutate into new variants. The results of the first human clinical trial of this technology found it is safe and well tolerated. This could prevent future pandemics before they even begin. Read more 👉

We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Jane Goodall. Jane was a much-loved and highly respected member of the conservation community in Cambridge and around the world. She completed her PhD at Darwin College, became an Honorary Fellow at Newnham College, and was awarded an Honorary Degree from Cambridge.
