I was challenged to make a video specifically looking at the state of the housing stock around the Smithdown area. As you can see from this video, within streets of each other is the combination of well kept houses, alongside derelict properties blighting the area. Many people know the Cunard Building as one of Liverpool's Three Graces, or where Liverpool City Council houses most of its offices and business. But so much of the building is empty, not used, and in disrepair. It is sitting on one of the most visited parts of the city centre, the waterfront, and yet isn't up to the potential that it has to increase the attraction to our beautiful city. What was once a fabulous building within a space filled with so much respect and reflection, has been left to nature - but it could be brought into community use for those paying respects to their passed loved ones. Those on the right love to use the ‘but gays would be tortured in Gaza’ line. You don’t have to agree with a government or religion to have compassion for human beings. I’ve experienced how toxic the far left can be and I still support Palestinian people and still stand fiercely against antisemitism and Islamophobia because I don’t like to see innocent people hated for who they are or being killed.

The European Convention on Human Rights exists to protect us against states that become rogue. It might be trendy for right wingers now to say let’s leave but what about future prime ministers who might trample over people’s fundamental rights.
