Flotilla activist Daniela Bonamico initially reported a sprained ankle, fractured tailbone, and leg injuries from a flash grenade while in Israeli custody, and has now added a broken rib to her list of injuries. When asked about her apparent speedy recovery, she said she had to sit on a donut cushion during her flight back to Canada. 📸 Jun 7, 2026 #Toronto #ProtestMania

WATCH: At the Walk with Israel, Naveed Awan Bahadur outlines what he says was relayed to him by police: “‘Zionism’ is not a protected class with respect to hate speech… you can call Zionists roaches, rats, scum.” He warns protesters not to say anything discriminatory about religion or nationality, distinguishing between “Israel murders kids” and “Israelis murder kids,” saying, “that’s the grey area they’re talking about.” The PSA ends with an invitation for protesters to either remain in the designated area or “go for a walk” on public property. 📸 Jun 7, 2026 #Toronto #ProtestMania

While filing a report about the assault at Dufferin Grove Park, a woman who apparently recognized me swore at me as she headed into Taco Bell. I told police I didn’t know her and thought nothing more of it. Moments later, as she exited Taco Bell, she threw liquid and ice at us—right in front of the cops. She was arrested on the spot. 📸 Oct 3, 2025 #Toronto #ProtestMania

WATCH: TTC Chair Jamaal Myers warmly thanks Cameron Stewart for his presentation on “indigenous wayfinding.” Myers’ smile fades as IntegrityTO executive director Daniel Tate dismisses the idea as “silly,” saying: “No transit system in the world adopts animal pictures for wayfinding… there’s already a great global standard, it’s called ‘alphanumeric.’” Tate draws nods and chuckles from some attendees when he points out that the TTC has much bigger problems to deal with. Myers intervenes after Tate refers to Stewart’s work as a “school project,” saying: “This was not a school project. This was a project in the fellowship… that was disrespectful.” Tate corrects himself but quickly moves on: “The bottom line is, why are we talking about decolonizing wayfinding. Like, what does that even mean? We have stations that don’t have working escalators, elevators, bathrooms.” Tate suggests “ignoring the diversity department” to instead focus on “delivering a high quality, reliable, safe transit system.” No board members follow up with questions. 📸 Jun 3, 2026 #Toronto #ProtestMania

Gesturing toward the demonstration at Yonge and Bloor, including a man holding an Islamic Republic of Iran flag and a sign reading “The World Hates Israel,” an older pedestrian asks a police officer: “Ordinary people like me, why do I have to be subjected to this kind of ugliness?… It’s distressing to the average person who is walking along the street.” Without weighing in with his personal opinion on geopolitics or the circumstances of individual protesters, the officer explains that the Charter protects rights to public assembly and freedom of expression. The officer suggests walking away from my videographer, apparently believing he is the source of the pedestrian’s discomfort. She quickly clarifies that he is not the problem. A couple of protesters then approach to engage with her, and the pedestrian warns them not to record her. The officer responds: “That’s the type of attention they want… the easiest thing is to walk away.” 📸 Jun 5, 2026 #Toronto #ProtestMania

Cameron Stewart proposes using animal decals as landmarks at TTC subway stations to facilitate indigenous wayfinding. Each animal corresponds with one of the Seven Grandfather Teachings from Anishinaabe culture. Stewart shares a mockup of what this could look like at Queen station. 📸 Jun 3, 2026 #Toronto #ProtestMania

Pro-Palestine organizer Naved Awan was among the first protesters to arrive at the Walk with Israel, accompanied by members of Neturei Karta whom he describes as “religious” and “obedient” Jews. Security personnel tells him to move to the designated protest area at Bathurst and Sheppard, approximately 50 metres from the intersection. Naved responds, “If you’re not a cop, f— off.” Staff Sergeant Hogan then approaches, saying, “Good morning. I am a police officer. I’m directing you to get behind those barricades.” 📸 Jun 7, 2026 #Toronto #ProtestMania

“You had a lot to say about me while I was gone,” accuses a flotilla activist protesting the Walk with Israel. My videographer asks, “Who are you?” Aaron Hadida jumps in: “Nobody. A nobody. That’s who she is. A nobody. That’s why she went on the flotilla, because she’s a f— nobody.” 📸 Jun 7, 2026 #Toronto #ProtestMania

Officer stops my videographer to warn that people are bothered by his presence: “People are trying to do whatever they’re doing— why is it that other people have to interfere? We don’t have to agree on stuff.” Except peacefully recording a public demonstration, particularly behaviour that’s clearly a matter of public interest, such as setting off smoke canisters while passing patio diners, does not infringe on protesters’ rights. If anything, protesters were attempting to stifle our ability to report on their public activities, which raises concerns about limiting expressive freedoms. The officer says, “I’m here to make sure that everyone is peaceful, that’s it.” My videographer replies, “I’m here to make sure I get the best shot of the smoke bombs.” The officer shoots back, “And what does that do for you? Nothing. Absolutely nothing, does it?” So what do you say, folks? Is there value to documenting what’s happening on Canadian streets? 📸 May 15, 2026 #Toronto #ProtestMania

Minutes before a cosplayer got arrested for carrying a highly realistic gun prop, fellow cosplayers had cautioned that officers might mistake it for a real weapon. The custom prop is made from an airsoft gun and 3D printed parts. 📸 May 2, 2026 #Toronto #ProtestMania

WATCH: Tempers flare at Bathurst and Sheppard as weekly pro-Palestine protesters march down the sidewalk chanting, “Allahu Akbar!” A passenger in a car stopped at a red light grins angrily, flashes his middle finger, and tells the group to leave the neighbourhood. He then shouts at police, “You let Nazis walk on the street!” Firas Al Najim responds, “You look like a stray dog… a crocodile… you need to seek a mental health assessment as soon as possible,” and strongly rejects the accusation that he is a Nazi. Another protester yells, “You’re a baby killer, get out of here!” The passenger replies, “Get the f— out of this country!” A longtime local resident walking her dog comments on the demonstration: “It’s hate crime... it’s disgusting.” 📸 May 31, 2026 #Toronto #ProtestMania
