Ask a Protestant what the “pillar and foundation of the truth” is and you’ll probably hear: the Bible. But 1 Timothy 3:15 says it’s “the Church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth.” Christ entrusted His teaching to the Apostles. Through that apostolic Church, Sacred Tradition was preserved and Scripture was handed down to us. You can reject the Catholic Church, but you can’t pretend the Bible appeared independently of the Church that preserved it.
