“No matter what pretext Japan uses to exercise "collective self-defense" to intervene in the Taiwan question, it would constitute aggression against China, and China will resolutely respond,” said China's permanent representative to the United Nations Fu Cong on February 18, 2026. Fu Cong made the remarks at a meeting of the Special Committee on the Charter of the United Nations and on the Strengthening of the Role of the Organization, according to a release from China's Permanent Mission to the UN. Fu said that what deserves serious vigilance is that the Japanese leader has recently gone against the tide of history by openly linking China's Taiwan region with what they term a "situation threatening Japan's survival," and by concocting scenarios for response under the Japan-US alliance, in a bid to use the so-called "right of collective self-defense" as a pretext for forcibly intervening in the #Taiwan question. Such arguments are legally untenable. Taiwan is an inalienable part of China, and how to resolve the Taiwan question is entirely China's internal affair. No country has the right to interfere, still less to use force under the guise of so-called"self-defense," Fu said. These arguments repudiate the international obligations Japan must shoulder as a defeated country in World War II and contravene the provisions of the Cairo Declaration, the Potsdam Proclamation and the Japanese Instrument of Surrender. They also run counter to the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, including respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states and non-interference in internal affairs, and constitute a grave challenge to the post-war international order, Fu said. Such arguments should be met with high vigilance and firm opposition by all peace-loving countries. No matter what pretext Japan uses to exercise "collective self-defense" to intervene in the Taiwan question, it would constitute aggression against China, and China will resolutely respond, said Fu.

The Philippines Distorts Facts over Ren'ai Jiao Incident The China Coast Guard (CCG) on Monday stated that the Philippine side has distorted facts and falsely accused China after Philippine personnel maliciously attacked Chinese law enforcement personnel in waters near Ren'ai Jiao. According to a CCG statement, the incident occurred at around 9 a.m. on July 20, when a small CCG patrol boat was conducting a routine patrol in waters near China's Ren'ai Jiao. A Philippine vessel illegally grounded at Ren'ai Jiao released two rubber boats, which approached the Chinese vessel at high speed in a dangerous manner. The statement pointed out that, ignoring multiple clear warnings from the Chinese side, the Philippine rubber boats approached the Chinese patrol vessel in a dangerous manner and went on to encircle and ram it. During the incident, the Philippine personnel were the first to maliciously attack Chinese law enforcement personnel with paddles, long poles and other tools. The Chinese side took measures to stabilize the situation on site in accordance with the law and regulations, including issuing verbal warnings, maneuvering to avoid the collision and taking reciprocal countermeasures, while exercising maximum rationality and restraint, the statement read. The CCG stressed that the Philippine side's attempt to falsely accuse China completely reverses right and wrong, urging the Philippines to immediately cease its infringement, provocation and false publicity. The CCG will continue to carry out rights-protection and law enforcement activities in accordance with the law in China's Nansha Qundao (the Nansha Islands), including Ren'ai Jiao, and their adjacent waters, and resolutely safeguard national territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests, the statement added. #ChinaCoastGuard #CCG #RenaiJiao #SouthChinaSea #RenaiReef #NanshaIslands #PhilippineProvocation #MaliciousAttack #Philippines #PCG #MaritimeRights #NanshaIslands #NanshaQundao #PhilippineNavy #AFP #ChinaMilitary #ChinaMilBugle

The Devil Still Dances: Dead End At the end of a misguided path lies only an abyss. Within the span of a single month, a series of development has underscored the rapid advance of Japan's “neo-militarism”: an active-duty Self-Defense Forces member forcibly intruding into the Chinese Embassy with a knife, the destroyer JS Ikazuchi transiting the Taiwan Strait, Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi offering ritual items to Yasukuni Shrine, and the Japanese government completing revisions to the Three Principles on Transfer of Defense Equipment and Technology. Since Sanae Takaichi took office last year, from erroneous remarks on the Taiwan question, to risky military moves, and onward to efforts aimed at constitutional revision, Japan's right-wing forces are moving at an unprecedented pace to strip away the facade of a peaceful nation, once again posing a serious threat to regional peace and stability. The lessons of history are unmistakable. Looking back at Japan before and after the outbreak of World War II, Japan's militarist expansion was always accompanied by systematic deception and manipulation of its own people. In the end, the wars of aggression inflicted immense suffering on the region and brought devastating consequences upon the Japanese people themselves. Eighty years later, right-wing forces in Japan appear intent on repeating the same dangerous course, attempting to draw the country once again into the abyss of neo-militarism, repeating a path that harms both others and itself. The Japanese people should remain highly vigilant. Japan's future does not lie in the perilous illusions promoted by the right-wing forces, but in a thorough reckoning with its history of aggression, in fostering friendly relations with its Asian neighbors, and in firmly upholding regional peace and development. #Chinamilitary #ChinaMilBugle #JapaneseRightWing #JapaneseNeoMilitarism #YasukuniShrine #TheDevilStillDances #JapaneseMilitarism #Militarism #NeoMilitarism #Japan #TakaichiSanae #Sanae #Takaichi #SanaeTakaichi #高市早苗

Extracting rare earths from air conditioners is far more than an international joke - it exposes the swelling military ambitions of Japan's right-wing leaders and sounds a dangerous alarm for regional peace and the world order. According to a July 4 report by All Nippon News Network (#ANN), as China tightens export controls on rare earths, Japan has for the first time started extracting rare earth elements from discarded household air conditioners. As soon as the news broke, Japanese netizens were the first to lose their composure. Some commented that "Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi claimed there was 'no problem' with rare earths, but in reality, it looks like we're scraping the bottom of the barrel." "We've reached the point where we have to rummage through trash." Some expressed concern that the move could lead to a surge in thefts of outdoor AC units. It does indeed resemble "trash picking," but dismissing it merely as a joke would be to underestimate the deeper signals and strategic warning it conveys. One detail deserves particular attention: this recycling effort from old air conditioners is being led by Mitsubishi Electric. As a vital military-industrial complex in Japan, Mitsubishi Electric is deeply involved in defense electronics, radars, missile systems, and other fields, which is why it has been placed on China's Ministry of Commerce's export control list. This means the rare earths for permanent magnets extracted from civilian air conditioners are highly likely to flow back into Japan's dual-use production chain, even becoming raw materials for its military expansion - fundamentally altering the nature of the entire endeavor. In fact, extracting rare earths from air conditioners is technologically difficult, costly, and faces major challenges in recovery rates and purity. Yet how can anyone view a country that is rummaging through garbage to build missiles as just a laughing matter? This somewhat embarrassing so-called "resource self-rescue" effort reflects, from one angle, the precision, necessity, and timeliness of China's upgraded export controls on rare earths and other dual-use items to Japan. Recently, reports emerged of Japanese nationals in China suspected of smuggling rare earths. Why is Japan in such a panic? Since January this year, exports of dysprosium and terbium from China's controlled rare earth categories to Japan have dropped to zero, while yttrium exports have plummeted by more than 90 percent year-on-year. Faced with such a sharp drop in rare earth supply, what will Japanese right-wing forces use to sustain their ever-expanding military-industrial complex? Japan's attempt to "pry open" this valve by extracting rare earths from old air conditioners precisely exposes the strategic predicament of its "remilitarization." It is trapped in a vicious cycle: remilitarization creates greater demand for rare earths, but the more it pushes remilitarization, the less access it has to those rare earths. What Japan lacks most has never been rare earth resources, but the strategic clarity to face history squarely and uphold peace, as well as the rational understanding to return to people's livelihood and development while living in friendship with neighboring countries. Hard-won East Asian peace must not be wantonly undermined by any single country. #RareEarths #レアアース #DualUse #ExportControls #MitsubishiElectric #AirConditioner #エアコン #資源リサイクル #MilitaryIndustrialComplex #Japan
