Automatic Cuts! This is a drill we do multiple times every week because it’s a huge part of our offense. These are the automatic cuts we expect our players to make within our offense, and repetition builds the habits that show up in games. This year, we added T’s and Loops to get our players involved from the dunker spot and create even more movement, spacing, and scoring opportunities. The goal is simple: make the right read, trust the movement, and let the offense work.

One of our staple drills to teach .5 decision-making: 4-on-3. The defense starts by circling, the coach throws the ball in, and it’s live. We put 10 seconds on the shot clock to force quick decisions and game-speed execution. This drill teaches our players to: • Make .5 decisions • Keep the ball moving instead of sticking • Attack advantages • Fly around on defense with urgency and communication Simple setup. Game-like reps. High-level habits. for more drills & content.

One of the best drills to teach transition is 5 on 4 Dominoes. Don’t be afraid for it to get a little messy, that’s part of the learning process. Players develop decision-making by reading the game instead of following a script. The chaos creates real game situations, forces communication, and teaches players how to react on the fly. It may not look perfect, but it’s far more game-like than running scripted transition reps, and that’s where the best learning happens. - 1:30 Games - The player that shoots or turns it over must touch the wall. - 10 second shot clock once they get past half court.

One of the best ways to teach offense is by creating game-like situations instead of scripting every action with plays. We worked on a couple of our favorite shooting drills that emphasize spacing, decision-making, movement, and shot-making within the flow of the offense and learning how to communicate by being loud on the court. The goal isn’t just making shots—it’s teaching players how to play. When athletes learn concepts, reads, and reactions, they become much more effective than simply memorizing plays.
