And she remembers her mother's words from the Brooklyn underground, when donation boxes came around for the Zionist project: "Don't give them any money. That's the money against us." Her mother knew. Before the state. Before the displacement. Before the world pretended it didn't see. "We knew they were racist. We knew they wanted the land from Palestinians. We were against it. Just another form of racism. Just stealing other people's land." A Jewish mother in Brooklyn said it plainly. Decades later, her daughter still refuses the money. Still refuses the silence. The clarity was always there. The world just chose to look the other way. 🧭

"I WAS BORN HERE. THIS IS MY HOUSE." "YOU CANNOT BE HERE." Hebron. A Palestinian man stands in front of his own home. Soldiers tell him he isn't allowed to be there. He asks to see his house. He's told there will be no discussion. Behind the exchange, the military order painted on the street: YOU ARE FORBIDDEN TO LEAVE YOUR HOUSE YOU ARE UNDER CURFEW FROM NOW UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE And an interviewee in the film names what's happening: "The occupying power is the innocent victim, and the oppressed people are the perpetrators, and it works." That's from Two Blue Lines, Tom Hayes's documentary — 25 years of footage, built mostly from Israeli and Jewish voices, critics and settlers alike. That last part is what makes it hard to wave away. 🧭

GAZA, 1989 "Behind me stands Ansar 2. A prison camp surrounded by barbed wire and armed guards. One of nearly a dozen camps holding 5,000 Palestinians." "Doctors. Lawyers. Children. Students. Journalists." "Most held without charge or trial. Labeled simply as 'security offenders.' All that is necessary under current administrative Israeli laws." A camera, a reporter, and a system that needed no evidence—just a label and a cage. That was 1989. Seen this tape before October 7—or only after? 🧭

THEY WANTED HAMAS TO WIN June 2007. Days after Hamas took control of Gaza. A U.S. embassy cable from Tel Aviv — 07TELAVIV1733, later released by Wikileaks. In it, Israeli military intelligence chief Amos Yadlin tells the American Ambassador that Israel would be happy to see Hamas take full control of Gaza. The reason, as recorded: once Hamas held the Strip, the IDF could treat Gaza as a single hostile entity. The cable itself notes Yadlin's remark was "not necessarily representing a GOI consensus view." A parallel cable from Shin Bet chief Yuval Diskin, dated the same day, records the other side: Fatah figures asked Israel to strike Hamas directly. Israel declined — and was wary of flooding weapons into a force that was already collapsing. Hamas won the 2006 elections. The US and Israel refused to accept the result, then backed a Fatah force to overturn it. The June 2007 fighting was the climax of that power struggle. Hamas took Gaza. Israel designated the entire Strip hostile. Every man, woman, and child. Everything became a legitimate target. Then came the blockade. Then the bombings. 2008 — Cast Lead. 2012 — Pillar of Defense. 2014 — 2,200 Palestinians killed in two months. 500 of them children. The vast majority non-combatants. Israel lost 73, most of them soldiers. 2018 — the Great March of Return. Snipers on the fence. 2023 to now — the rest. Homes destroyed or damaged beyond repair. And they can't rebuild. The blockade bans construction materials from entering. So Gaza sits in the rubble, as if the war ended yesterday. And the script never changes. Israel violates a ceasefire. Gaza fires rockets. Israel unleashes a wildly disproportionate assault. The media trumpets self-defense. Almost zero Israeli casualties. Mahmoud Al-Zahar, Hamas co-founder: "We are not playing terrorism. We are under occupation. The Israelis continue their aggression against our people. Killing, detention, demolishing. In order to stop these processes, we run effective self-defense by all means, including guns." The cable is public. It's been sitting there for years. Nobody looked. 🧭

SEEDS OF REVENGE ABC News, 1967. Bob Young reports from a refugee camp in Amman: "Most of the refugees here are women and children... Virtually all of them bring stories of Israeli brutality. Several of their villages were deliberately destroyed so that they would have to move. They don't believe that the Western world wants to know that story. They say that Israel is the fifty-first state of the United States, and American imperialism is the cause of their misery." Then, the closing line that echoes through the decades: "The only thing growing here are seeds of revenge." Some stories don't age. They just get deleted and rewritten. 🧭

19 YEARS BEFORE HAMAS TOOK CONTROL OF GAZA In March 1988, Thames TV reporter Peter Gill documented life in the occupied Strip. No Hamas in power—the movement hadn't even published its charter yet. Hamas would not take control of Gaza for another 19 years. Yet the footage shows the same grim reality: a third of the land already seized for settlements. 650,000 Palestinians crammed into what was left. Refugees still waiting to return home, four decades after being expelled. The excuses change with the decade. The occupation predates them all. 🧭

She knows the cost, and she's still standing. One of the most decorated actresses of her generation, blacklisted in plain sight for saying what the world can now see. And yet she says it with a kind of peace: "I found my family. I found my people. And I'm okay." The industry didn't break her. It just confirmed what she already knew. 🧭

At some point, the penny should drop: 'Fuck Israel' is not antisemitism. It's criticism of a government. To conflate the two is one of the laziest tropes. You went after him for 10 minutes. THEY PLANTED BOMBS IN PALESTINIAN MARKETS BEFORE 1948 Dr. Nur Masalha, on camera: "The Jewish community in Palestine was trained as a military garrison. Settlers were also soldiers at night. Fence. Watchtower." Then he gets to the part people pretend started later. From 1937, the Irgun—Etzel—planted bombs in Palestinian markets. Not "clashes." Markets. Haifa. Jaffa. Jerusalem. The aim, he says, was to throw the cities off balance. A few bombs in the places where society actually lived. The paper trail is not obscure: • 6 July 1938, Haifa vegetable market: 21 killed, 61 wounded. A U.S. diplomatic cable described two powerful Jewish bombs thrown into the central Arab vegetable market. • 26 July, same market: 53 killed, 45 wounded—figures later given to the British Parliament. • 26 August, Jaffa vegetable market: about 21–24 killed. But the Irgun didn't only target Palestinian civilians. On 22 July 1946, operatives wheeled milk churns packed with explosives into the basement of the King David Hotel—the British Mandate's military and administrative headquarters in Jerusalem. At 12:37 p.m., the blast tore through the building's southwest wing. 91 people killed. 46 injured. Arabs, Jews, Britons—civilians and staff caught in the same collapse. The Irgun called it a military target. The British called it terror. Lehi, the smaller splinter, specialised in assassination—Lord Moyne in 1944, Count Bernadotte in 1948. Two different kinds of violence. Same period. Same root. The campaigns shifted. The paper trail didn't. Bombings of Palestinian civilian markets were a documented Irgun tactic years before 1948. The King David Hotel made the same doctrine impossible to ignore. Hansard. U.S. State Department. The newspapers of the time. The footage doesn't need noise. It just needs to be seen. 🧭

"WE FORGOT ONE SMALL DETAIL" 1905. The Seventh Zionist Congress chooses Palestine—after considering Argentina and Uganda—to establish a Jewish homeland. Yitzhak Epstein stands and says: "On that land we love, there is an entire nation that has been living on it for centuries and has never considered leaving it. We are making a serious psychological mistake." Herzl dreamed of a liberal, European, secular state. The rabbis warned that only God could return them with the coming of the Messiah. The one voice in the room that saw the Palestinians clearly was ignored. The warning aged into prophecy. 🧭
