Every time the rain comes down, New Yorkers brace for chaos. Streets flood, basements fill, trees fall, power gets knocked out, lives are disrupted. This is not normal and it is not acceptable. For decades our sewer system has been neglected while storms get stronger. Our trees are not properly maintained and when New Yorkers flag dangerous limbs and dead trees, the Parks Department drags its feet. Then a gust of wind hits and families end up with crushed cars, damaged homes, and power lines ripped down. New Yorkers are tired of government that reacts instead of prepares. As mayor, I will treat flooding and storm response like the public safety emergency it is. We will upgrade sewer infrastructure, prune and monitor trees year-round, stage crews in advance of storms, and hold agencies accountable for response times and prevention. This city deserves a leader who sees the problem, understands it, and fixes it. I will make sure New Yorkers never feel abandoned when the skies open up again.

Thank you to everyone who stood with me. I’m so proud of everyone who worked so hard these past months. We went up against billionaires, the political elite, and the full weight of the establishment, and we did it together. This city belongs to all of us. We love it, we live it, and we will protect it side by side. No one can buy our spirit or break our unity. When we stand together, New York stands strong. We will not move. We will not be forced out. There’s a crisis in our subways and it’s getting worse by the day. NYPD and EMS need more resources, and we need more health care workers on the ground to respond to people in crisis. Today it took 30 minutes before this woman could be taken to the hospital. If you see someone in distress, please don’t walk away. Call for help and stay with them. This could be anyone’s mother, sister, friend, or relative. Don’t judge. Help.

Public transportation in NYC remains a disaster, and Hochul’s MTA raised fares in January. Mamdani promised “free buses,” yet endorsed Hochul who raised public transportation fares in January..? Explain how MTA will go from raising fares to making buses free? It’s all lies. Mass transit in New York is a disaster despite billions upon billions in spending. Riders are packed onto delayed buses. Trains are unreliable. Service gets cut. Fares go up. And the people paying the price are working families trying to get to work, school, and home safely. Wake up NYC- the people we rely on to make life better continue to lie, steal, and break promises.
