I don't find my drums in a folder or even from break records. I usually just find them within songs. A snare here, a kick there, a hat. It's just my favorite way to spend my time making beats, not in a rush to make 20 beats a day.

I've been making beats for 30yrs yet the algorithm will tell you that I'm irrelevant. That's the world we're in now.

Check it out, I hear Roc Marci all over this but I dunno, is it too dark? But he goes dark. Hm, who do you think would keep the beat sounding fresh over two whole minutes?

Vinyl vs YT Spotify: I ❤️ hunting for LPs at thrift shops. There's real satisfaction in taking you time, hearing LPs that you've found and picking snares, hats and music from them. 20 beats a day isn't my goal, I'm slow cookin' and I do this for me bcs I ❤️ the art of sampling.

I found some piano that reminded me of Jay Dee aka J Dilla. I actually worked with Dilla and released AG's Hip-Hop Quotable and Phat Kat's Carte Blanche w/ the viral track, Cold Steel, both produced by Jay Dee. Not only was I a fan, I actually got to do biz with him.

Back at it. Looking for beats to finish my new album, featuring Phat Kat, Elzhi, Fashawn, LMNO and more. Plus batches of instrumentals in-between.

This beat on the EPS shows how unique the 13 bit sound is. (Caution, beat is 🔥)

I always loved Gang Starr's Moment of Truth LP, but when I found a loop that sounded like it, I almost cried 😭
