The New Atheist movement, which influenced Bill Maher, developed as a movement which largely aligned itself with Western imperialism in the Middle East under the guise of combating religion. The logic of the movement was that the problems in the Middle East are due to Islam and therefore require intervention. What they often deliberately ignored or downplayed was the role of Western intervention in causing these problems in the first place.

Malcolm X was assassinated and a year later Kwame Nkrumah was overthrown in a CIA backed coup. The objective then was to remove the leaders who were promoting global unity among African. The same objective remains today, which is why there's so much effort being put in place to promote divisions among African people.

Depends on the Brazilian. There's anti-Blackness and self-hatred in Brazil which often manifests itself in a denial of Brazil's African roots, but the culture there is very much African. One of the most prominent carnival groups in Brazil is Ile Ayie, which is a Yoruba phrase.

There's no Malcolm X without Marcus Garvey. He came from a Garveyite family and after Malcolm was forced out of the NOI, he formed the OAAU to continue where Garvey left off. These people don't actually care about Malcolm or anything he stood for. They are using his name to promote division.

Malcolm himself stated that the objective of the OAAU was to unite all people of African descent in the Western Hemisphere. Malcolm was so encouraged by his travels in Africa that he decided to create an organization which was modeled from the OAU. Not only was Malcolm a Pan-Africanist, but the leaders that he met with in Africa only deepened his belief in Pan-Africanism.
