Advocate Chaskalson asked Professor Fikeni, with a bit of a despondent chuckle, what can this Commission do, how can they frame recommendations in a way that they will get implemented, considering that recommendations from many other Commissions, including the PSC itself, are not being implemented. His response depressed me. 😭 He said first of all, there's no political will and administrative will to implement and follow up. No resourcing either for implementation. Most importantly though, it's when he says, those in Treasury for example who will say "what is the cost of doing this", they should be asked, "what is the cost of not doing it". In the security establishment, he says, the cost of doing nothing, is in the lives that are lost. The cost of doing nothing, it's not the statistics, it's the pain of every family going through the challenges that otherwise could have been avoided. He's basically warning the Commission that there is a high possibility that their recommendations will not be seen through. They'll bank on the fact that after 3 years we would have forgotten. And life will go back to what it was. #MadlangaCommission

Pardon the long video, you need to hear the whole engagement. I am more angry than I was yesterday. 😤😡 Commissioner Khumalo took Andrea Johnson through Brigadier Mokwele's QUALIFICATIONS which she had not seen up till now!!! Khumalo: What suitable qualifications do you say Ms. Mokwele did not have when she was appointed to this position? Johnson: I don't know her qualifications. There was a 4 minute pause with her trying to find the documents and look at them. Having seen the qualifications.... Khumalo: Why make a statement under oath to this Commission that she did not have qualifications? She has withdrawn and apologized, but Brigadier Mokwele MUST SUE HER and she MUST BE FIRED!! What a shame! 😭 #MadlangaCommission

Commissioner Khumalo tried to be the bigger person and intervene by saying that the need to have an independent Doctor assess General Khan, was just the Commission seeking a second opinion, no need for his lawyers to see at as adversarial. Chair and Advocate Hassim are not buying the soft approach. She came back and said "Commissioner Khumalo you'll pardon me I'm coming with an aggressive approach because he even got the Doctor to backdate the sick noted. 😅 Chair said "You are not going to hold the Commission to ransom". #MadlangaCommission

During our Matric year in Thokoza, at Thoko-Thaba High school, we had a new teacher, Ms. Thobeka Mda. It was the first time we were taught by a teacher who had a Masters degree I think, majored in English. Very polished, lady like in posture and the way she spoke. One of the things she insisted we pronounce properly was "POLICE", she said we should say it as "the PLEASE", not like "POLIS". 😂😅 I have noticed General Mkhwanazi pronounces it correctly, he says the PLEASE. Listen carefully. 😊

Chair Madlanga is very angry, as he should. Fadiel Adams says he couldn't prepare his statement since October because his laptop freezes. 🤣😂 The Chair told him he doesn't take the Commission serious and the people he's representing in parliament. Chair is really naughty today. He distracted Commissioner Khumalo and made him laugh so hard. 🤭😂 Commissioner Khumalo had earlier asked Commissioner Thobakgale "Who guards the guards"? I don't know what Chair showed him, he says it was something that shows the origin of the saying "who guards the guards", but whatever it is, it cracked him up. 🤣😂 #MadlangaCommission
