Obama talked less explicitly abt race than most right-wing podcasters. Dylan Roof walked into a historic black church in South Carolina and murdered 9 Christians. If ever there was an opportunity to “fan the flames of racial division,” that was it. His focus that day was grace.

Imagine how much different this country would be if black progressive politicians, pundits, academics, preachers, and entertainers used their resources and influence to promote marriage and two-parent homes instead of abortion. The most important thing you need to know about the viral roundtable w/Clifton Powell is that it was organized by a “reproductive justice” org trying to get black men to be abortion allies.Only a foolish “king” kills his heirs to appease his “queen” and calls it “power.”

Sports occupy an outsized role in American culture but most social commentators miss the obvious parallels between the court and the classroom. Dr. Kunjufu had it exactly right: “That which do you most, will be that which you do best.”

.Chris Broussard is doing the Lord’s work here. His comments, coupled w/my own work in this area, have made one thing crystal clear to me: any serious movement to revive marriage &amp; rebuild the black family MUST be led by black Christian men who embody the values they espouse.

One thing that distinguishes VBF from any other book is that I spend an entire chapter naming the groups that will oppose family reconstruction, tell you what they’ll say and equip you to respond. Intersectional feminists (inc. men) are at the top of the list.

I truly believe that rebuilding the traditional black family is possible, but only if the institutions that claim to care about social justice &amp; racial disparities marshal their resources to make “marriage before carriage” the standard again.

I find the contention that two-parent homes don’t benefit black children as much as their white peers both a dubious—and completely irrelevant—claim. A married mom and dad does far more for economic security &amp; emotional development than any government program.
