The Western Cape High Court ordered that parliament’s adoption of the fiscal framework and VAT increase be set aside. The Democratic Alliance on April 2, 2025, told the Speaker of Parliament that the VAT rate adjustment and the report of the Standing Committee and Select Committee on Finance did not follow proper procedures, and the report was, in fact, ILLEGAL. After the ANC+ (ANC, ASA, BOSA, PA, RISE, PAC, Good, IFP, Al JAMA) voted for the ILLEGAL report, the DA had no choice but to send the matter to court and rescue South Africa from the VAT increase that the ANC+ voted for. Thank you to the DA for reversing the ILLEGAL VAT increase.
