One leader has been in public office for more than 25 consecutive years (multiple-time Chief Minister and multiple-time Prime Minister) and has never lost an election in his entire political career. Edappadi Palaniswami becoming CM after Aadhav screwed Vijay? I just spoke to an IAS officer (our family friend) who is very close to the ADMK leadership. He says EPS is trying to become CM with the support of the DMK. All small parties in the alliance will get berths in the next cabinet. Another insight shared by him is that it was Aadhav Arjuna who forced Vijay to accept Congress support and go to the Governor. The experienced Sengottaiyan warned him, knowing the consequences, but he didn’t listen. Vijay paid a heavy price because of Aadhav Arjuna! Now, all TVK Vijay MLAs are threatening to resign if DMK and ADMK come together.

Never trust someone who pretends to be a Hindu - Suriya is a classic example! Suriya Sivakumar I came across this video of Suriya and Jyothika visiting Tirupati. What makes this amusing is that Suriya maintained complete silence when Jyothika questioned why people donate money to temples instead of hospitals. Not a word. Not even a clarification. But now suddenly, temple visits and pilgrimage optics? If temple donations are supposedly a problem, then why the need for publicized Tirupati trips and spiritual branding now? This is exactly why many people see cinema celebrities as deeply opportunistic. Religion for them often appears less like faith and more like image management depending on the political climate and public mood. Suriya has spent years carefully aligning himself with the Dravidian ecosystem while conveniently balancing religious optics whenever needed. That contradiction is becoming increasingly obvious to people. I also hear *Karuppu* is struggling because audiences are slowly becoming tired of subtle propaganda packaged as commercial cinema. People can tolerate ideology. What they dislike is hypocrisy. Never trust someone who wears Hinduism only when it is convenient.

On this eventful day, I realized MK Stalin is a Gentleman and EPS is a Scumbag! Till this morning, there were talks between the DMK first family and EPS to explore the possibility of a DMK–ADMK coalition government. The person who was most interested was Durga Stalin. She always wanted to make her son the next Chief Minister. In fact, it was her long-standing wish to see her son becoming CM, hence all the temple visits. The deal that was being discussed was a 50:50 arrangement, where Udhayanidhi would be CM for 2½ years and EPS for the rest. Now you can decipher why EPS locked up his MLAs in some resort. He feared his MLAs might desert him, support Vijay, and form a TVK–ADMK coalition government instead. ADMK MLAs know very well that they have no future; hence, they felt Vijay could give them a lifeline. Isn’t EPS a scumbag? Edappadi K Palaniswami-SayYEStoWomenSafety&AIADMK When the idea was pitched to MK Stalin, he summarily rejected it, saying it would hurt the DMK’s future badly. He also asked the CPI, CPM, and VCK to support Vijay in forming the next government (probably with sinister motives, which are not uncommon in politics). Without his permission, these parties would not have supported TVK Vijay I have a million reasons to criticize MK Stalin on governance and administration. Udhayanidhi looks visibly upset, annoyed, and uncomfortable as the Chief Minister takes oath! Udhayanidhi thought he could easily become Chief Minister purely because of his lineage, without hard work, sincerity, or vision. Due to Udhayanidhi's god-like attitude and his tendency to treat Tamil Nadu like a fiefdom, Tamil voters used Vijay and his TVK Vijay as tools to give DMK a royal drubbing, with even his father and the sitting Chief Minister himself losing his own seat. Now, Udhayanidhi seems to be in denial about everything that has transpired over the past week. He looks visibly upset, irritated, and uncomfortable as the CMOTamilNadu takes oath. What a spectacular fall from grace for the sorry loser Udhayanidhi. BTW, he blocked me for my pointed questions about his non-performance as an MLA, Sports Minister, and Deputy CM!

MK Stalin’s family divided over an alliance with ADMK to keep TVK out! The latest update is that Durga Stalin, Udhayanidhi, and Sabareesan are trying to convince MK Stalin to go for an alliance with ADMK on a 50:50 arrangement, where Udhayanidhi would be CM for the first 2½ years and EPS for the remaining term. The trio does not want Vijay to become CM because he humiliated the DMK electorally. Despite enormous pressure, MK Stalin is not budging. Meanwhile, EPS has still not released his MLAs from the resort. This means he is still in the game to become CM with the DMK’s support, with the promise of making some of his MLAs ministers. He fears that otherwise his MLAs might desert him, support Vijay, and form a TVK–ADMK coalition government instead, without EPS. ADMK MLAs know very well that they have no future; hence, they feel Vijay could give them a lifeline. Meanwhile, TVK Vijay is committing blunder after blunder and ruining the goodwill and sympathy Vijay had garnered a few days back! A section from MK Stalin's family is now raking up the AMMK forgery claim against Vijay!

Hence, I will continue with the BJP and serve the party in whatever capacity possible”? Hasn’t he said this multiple times in the past? Check out this video. If that turns out to be the case, what happens to all the hype (natural or artificial), analyses, and speculation that have been doing the rounds over the past few days? As I have mentioned multiple times, CMOTamilNadu should gradually begin interacting more openly with the press. And if he still feels uncomfortable dealing with the Tamil Nadu media ecosystem, Delhi may actually provide him with a softer and more neutral setting to begin. Even in Delhi, he seems to be staying within his own cocoon. What exactly does the Chief Minister think of himself and the press? The last person who understood that he has become CMOTamilNadu is Vijay!

Producer K. Rajan’s death raises disturbing and deeply uncomfortable questions! He was 85 years old. Can an elderly man at that age really jump off a bridge so easily? The circumstances simply do not sit right. K. Rajan was not just another producer. He was one of the very few voices in the Tamil film industry who openly and repeatedly spoke about the unhealthy economics of modern cinema, especially mainstream stars swallowing massive portions of film budgets and pushing producers towards financial ruin. For years, he warned that the industry was becoming unsustainable. So naturally, questions will arise. Was this truly a suicide? Or is there something far more sinister behind this tragedy? What exactly is happening inside the Tamil film industry today? Why does the industry repeatedly witness stories of financial collapse, emotional breakdown, silence, fear, and now an emerging suicide culture? Will the leading stars of the industry finally come together and address these issues seriously instead of pretending everything is normal? And most importantly, will the CMOTamilNadu who himself comes from the cinema industry call for a proper press conference, acknowledge the gravity of the situation, and initiate serious discussions on the state of the industry? Because this no longer looks like an isolated tragedy. There is something fundamentally flawed and disturbing!

A SWOT of Annamalai’s “We-The-Leaders” Movement – An Amazing and Ambitious Project on Paper, but an Arduous one to Implement! As the very first person to surmise and publicly suggest that Annamalai should launch his own party (despite being a BJP sympathizer myself), I feel both happy and vindicated that he has finally taken the plunge. In fact, when I made that suggestion in April last year, many of his own supporters rebuked me. Today, the very same supporters are jumping in joy. I thought I would offer my honest and impartial views on Annamalai’s new dream and what better way to analyse it than through a SWOT framework? Here we go! Strengths! Annamalai’s speech was positive, confident, and unwavering. For the first time, he explicitly articulated his intention to begin a movement, nurture it into a political party, and eventually contest the next Assembly elections. He appears determined and emotionally invested in his vision. The intent itself appears noble — primarily to break the cult (TVK Vijay) and dynastic/nepotistic (DMK and AIADMK) political culture that dominates Tamil Nadu politics. Today, opportunities are often monopolized either by mass celebrities or by political families where grandfather, son, grandson, and extended relatives continue inheriting political power, while the common man still struggles to find space to contribute meaningfully to society. Annamalai also seems to have understood the importance of grassroots political development. Precisely for this reason, he speaks about creating and nurturing grassroots leaders who can eventually become catalysts for broader societal and political change. Weaknesses! In electoral politics, identifying your principal political opponent is extremely important. Annamalai says he will not attack anyone, but politics rarely functions in that manner. One major reason behind the phenomenal success of Vijay and his rapid rise was that he clearly identified DMK as his primary political enemy, and that strategy worked brilliantly due to severe anti-incumbency. While Annamalai repeatedly spoke about creating grassroots leaders, the overall speech lacked operational specifics regarding how exactly he intends to pull off such an enormous project. Building genuine grassroots leadership cannot realistically be achieved within five years. It requires a generational transformation. By the time any meaningful structural outcome emerges, Annamalai himself may well be in his 60s. Opportunities! A focused, training-based approach to creating grassroots leaders sounds fresh, innovative, and intellectually appealing. No major Tamil Nadu political movement has articulated such an idea in recent times. This approach could resonate strongly with discerning, educated, and politically aware voters seeking long-term systemic change. The proposal for fixed terms for all positions, including councilors, MLAs, ministers, and even Chief Ministers is also a brilliant and refreshing idea. It creates a level playing field and opens opportunities for merit-based political growth driven by performance and competitive spirit. Threats! CMOTamilNadu Joseph Vijay will undoubtedly be the single biggest threat to this movement. This is because Vijay possesses charisma, mass appeal, cinematic aura, and substantial public support already reflected in his 35% vote share. That support base could further expand because Tamil Nadu politics has historically been deeply mass-leader-centric, from Karunanidhi to MGR to Jayalalithaa and now Joseph Vijay. Cinema and politics in Tamil Nadu have always remained deeply intertwined. How exactly Annamalai intends to break this cultural-political pattern remains the million-dollar question. Another concern is that many Annamalai supporters still seem to misunderstand the nature of this initiative. This is supposed to be a long-term grassroots movement, not merely a membership drive. As of now, even if more 7 lakh people have enrolled, that still represents only a tiny fraction of Tamil Nadu’s voter base. Even if the movement eventually attracts 60 lakh people, it would still translate to only around 15% vote share which is insufficient to defeat a strong incumbent government. Many are currently joining because of excitement, novelty, and emotional momentum. But will the movement sustain itself? It is somewhat similar to joining a gym after a New Year’s resolution. Initial enthusiasm is easy. Sustained discipline is rare. If fixed-term political positions is intended merely as an internal party discipline mechanism, then it is perfectly achievable. However, if Annamalai intends to make it a broader political standard for India, then that would require major electoral reforms far beyond the capacity of a regional party. Final words! I do not want to sound pessimistic because there is clearly genuine intent behind this movement from Annamalai. An intent to create seismic long-term societal and political change. But does modern society possess the patience required for such an awakening? Tamil Nadu politics is fundamentally cult-driven. In many ways, cult can only be defeated by another cult. Only a diamond can cut a diamond. Modern voters are often impatient, emotional, short-sighted, and constantly searching for “change” and “excitement” more than governance, administrative experience, or institutional credentials. Neutral and non-political voters also tend to gravitate toward whichever political force appears to possess momentum and inevitability, because people naturally prefer backing someone who they think will win. Will this initial enthusiasm sustain itself? And if yes, what are the long-term plans for sustaining it? There must be constant engagement, frequent interactions, periodic workshops, conversations, and consistent quality control. How will Annamalai alone manage such an enormous undertaking? If he successfully does, he may himself evolve into a political cult figure. In which case, how will be fight cult politics? However, excessive empty rhetoric without visible action could also revive “failed Seeman” comparisons. My humble suggestion to Annamalai would be to first attempt a pilot exercise in the Kongu belt and scientifically test the outcomes. He could train grassroots leaders and allow them to contest local body elections and the 2029 Lok Sabha elections within that region. If successful, those leaders could gradually create model wards, streets, municipalities, and eventually constituencies. That success could then inspire broader replication across Tamil Nadu over the next 10–15 years, while simultaneously earning the trust of Tamil voters. Attempting to achieve all this within just five years appears virtually impossible. Personally, I would say the chances to succeed is only 10%. But it will be an extraordinary political and social experiment if Annamalai genuinely wishes to give back to the society that made him who he is today. Having said all this, I am still willing to give Annamalai the benefit of the doubt because this project is still in the initial phase. Let us wait and watch how things unfold. Even if his party emerges as the principal opposition force by 2031, it would still be a phenomenal achievement. All the very best, brother K.Annamalai

From Aalumai to Attakathi – The spectacular evolution of a perennial political turncoat Edappadi Karuppa Palaniswami! Critics of Edappadi K Palaniswami-SayYEStoWomenSafety&AIADMK have forever opined that he is an uncharismatic, uninvolving, uninspiring, uncharitable, uninteresting, unaccommodating, unambitious, and unimaginative politician in Tamil Nadu, driven largely by self-interest, personal gain, and cowardice. No wonder he has never won an election on his own (11 on the trot) and perhaps never will again. I am glad that finally even EPS’s own supporters are beginning to come to grips with reality and make statements that align with the truth. Whether the ADMK will make a dramatic comeback like it did in the past (1998, 2001, 2011) is something only time can answer. But EPS’s time is over. It would be good for the party if he exits gracefully. The funny thing is that, in order to defeat the DMK, I supported the NDA in the assumption that it will be most formidable front and even voted for the ADMK in the election. My mother, however, saw the bigger picture and voted for TVK Vijay something I came to know only a few days later because, on the day of voting, we had supposedly reached a consensus that we would vote for the ADMK. Women often go by instinct and get it right most of the time, whereas men go by logic and think they get it right most of the time. There is a gulf of difference. What an irony! Annamalai has a very bright future ahead! After Joseph Vijay, the biggest beneficiary of this shocking election outcome is Annamalai. If he can launch his own party and make it an Annamalai vs Vijay contest in the next election, he has bright chances of doing well by galvanizing the Hindu vote bank. Stalin and EPS will be close to 80 in 2031, and Annamalai has age on his side. Moreover, this is Vijay’s first term, and he is expected to make mistakes due to inexperience. History shows that most first terms of leaders have been pathetic (1971 to 1976 under Karunanidhi and 1991 to 1996 under Jayalalitha). The exit polls have been unfair and unkind to Seeman and his NTK! I am not sure why NTK has not been mentioned by most of the exit polls. They seem to focus only on the DMK, NDA, and TVK, as though NTK doesn’t exist or is an ‘also-ran’ party. NTK is a recognized party with a dedicated vote share of 8.2%. Brushing the party off just because there is an actor in the fray is unfair and unkind. My intuition is that NTK will emerge as a dark horse in this election and will cross the 10% mark, as it has shown consistent growth over the last decade. Despite my differences with Seeman and his ideologies, I have always applauded his hard work, his consistent stand of contesting alone, and his positive view of social justice, especially his decision to field six Brahmin candidates. You can’t blame the Governor for Vijay’s mistake! People are comparing the 2017 Sasikala episode with the 2026 Vijay episode, which is fundamentally wrong. The 2017 Sasikala episode was a deliberate sabotage by BJP for political reasons. But the 2026 Vijay episode is a result of Vijay being a political novice and his TVK Vijay lacking good legal and political advisors. Vijay should have claimed stake based on his 107 seats. Instead, he presented a letter of support as an alliance that didn’t have a majority, and Governor did what he had to do. Vijay’s electoral performance proves popularity and fanfare can win you an election, but forming a government is not that easy. Vijay won the election but is struggling to form a government. It was his mistake, and the Governor cannot be blamed!

Why would Annamalai eulogize E.V. Ramasamy Naicker? If you like and support a leader, you may defend his past and present actions. But if you start defending a future action that may or may not even happen, then that reflects a typical fan mindset. If Annamalai eulogizes Ramasamy Naicker, how different would he then be from the DK, DMK, ADMK, Vijay, or Seeman, all of whom have, at various points, considered Ramasamy Naicker their ideological guiding force? Ramasamy Naicker was never an electoral force or a mass vote-puller, even when he was alive. For example, he wholeheartedly supported Kamaraj in 1967, yet the Congress still suffered a massive defeat. Then why would Annamalai eulogize Ramasamy Naicker? Wasn't this the same Annamalai who once declared that if the BJP formed a government in Tamil Nadu, it would remove all E.V. Ramasamy Naicker statues outside temples and replace them with Alvars and Nayanmars? Will K.Annamalai's stand now change after leaving BJP? People tend to forget things easily. But I don’t and won’t!

Feel terribly sorry for Dr.Palanivel Thiaga Rajan and his emotional “Retirement Speech”! When DMK came back to power in 2021, Dr P Thiaga Rajan (PTR) (and his 'sold' pedigree) was seen as someone who could bring a turnaround to the state’s finances. But he was so naïve and alien to DMK politics that he started seriously questioning finances. As a result, he exposed the DMK first family tooth and nail. Since then, he has been relegated from the Finance Ministry (arguably the second most powerful ministry) to the relatively innocuous IT Ministry, which suggests he was sidelined not because of his performance but because of his honesty. If you are honest, you can never be with DMK! Dr P Thiaga Rajan (PTR) should have instantly quit DMK and reached out to "other options" that would have “onboarded” him with “open arms.” If he had done that, today he wouldn’t be weeping like this. I feel terribly sorry for Dr. Palanivel Thiaga Rajan and the lack of judgement that has resulted in his possible “Retirement Speech”!
