"Veil of Silence" This look, created for Threads of Pride, explores what happens when identity becomes a battleground. Crafted from restructured traditional thoubs—pressed and reshaped—the outfit holds traces of the original: collars, cuffs, and lived memory. The gold face covering (batoolah) honors femininity under pressure. Red stones speak to the hidden cost of silence. The gilded armor hints at wealth and distraction used to mask deeper harms. The voice heard here comes from a trans woman in the Gulf who asked that her story be told. With care and protection, she trusted us with her truth. To speak up carries risk. But silence costs more. “نقاب الصمت” هذا الزي المصمم لعرض Threads of Pride، يحكي عن نتيجة تحويل الهوية الشخصية لساحة معركة. الزيّ مصنوع من اثواب خليجية تقليدية أعيد تشكيلها—مضغوطة ومعاد صياغتها—بس لا زالت تحتفظ بأثر الأصل: الياقات، الأكمام، والذكريات اللي عاشت فيها. غطاء الوجه الذهبي (البطولة) يكرّم الأنوثة تحت الضغط والأحجار الحمرا تبوح بثمن الصمت المخفي. الدرع المذهّب يلمّح للثراء والتحكم المادي اللي يُستخدمونه لإخفاء الألم الأعمق. الصوت اللي تسمعونه هني جاي من امرأة ترانس خليجية طلبت إن قصتها تنقال. وبكل حرص وحماية غيرنا صوتها وشاركنا واقعها. قول الحقيقة علنيا فيه مجازفة—بس ثمن الصمت أغلى.
