It's not just that Alperen Sengun had a great offensive performance against Nikola Jokic and Serbia. What he did as a jump shooter was the most notable thing to take away from this matchup, and it's something that I've been looking for from him as a next step in the NBA. When the Houston Rockets get deeper into the playoffs, defenses will scheme to stop Sengun from getting downhill against mismatches or establishing himself in the post. If he's against bigs who are most comfortable to drop back and live with Sengun taking jump shots, he's got to make them pay for it. In this game, he made Jokic pay big time, and it set up the rest of his offensive game. It's these shots that can turn Sengun into not just one of the best centers in the NBA, but a dark-horse MVP candidate.
