It’s been an eventful two days on my quiet little street in Grand Rapids. Thanks to the windstorm last night, we suffered a power surge down our street, frying people’s furnaces and multiple other appliances. This evening, my sweet neighbor’s house caught fire, believed to be a result of the surge impact from last night. A lot of people in need of encouragement and prayer, especially so close to Christmas.

I met Vladimir Guerrero Jr. in 2016. One of my international contacts had reached out to me the year before about a teenager “with a hack as beautifully violent as his father.” As I covered Vladdy over the years to come, he always told me how he was “just thankful” to be able to play the game that’s been a part of his entire life. He’s wanted and worked for every bit of what he’s accomplished. I’ve admittedly teared up watching the videos reflecting the emotion of that same teenager, only this time, he’s not 16 anymore. He’s World Series bound. #BlueJays

I asked Alan Trammell what he enjoys the most about being a roving instructor. His eyes lit up and he said, “I get to help shape players.” I caught this moment with he and Peyton Graham today and if you know Tram, this is where he thrives. Ask the players and even with the expansive gap in generations, every one of them will tell you about the level of respect and admiration they share for Trammell and the wealth of knowledge he brings to this farm system.
