Etihad Rail is preparing to launch the UAE’s first fully integrated national passenger rail network, as part of a national vision to advance the transport sector and strengthen connectivity between the emirates. Designed to connect 11 cities and regions through an advanced transport system, the network will include stations in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Fujairah, Sila, Al Dhannah, Mirfa, Madinat Zayed, Mezaira’a, Al Faya, and Al Dhaid, with services introduced in phases in line with future growth and expansion requirements. Together, we move towards a more integrated and efficient mobility system across the UAE.

We were honoured to welcome H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah; H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah; and H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of Etihad Rail, to Fujairah Passenger Station. Their Highnesses visited the station following its completion, a significant milestone as the first completed passenger station on the Etihad Rail network. During the visit, they were briefed on the station’s facilities, the passenger experience and booking journey, the progress of the wider network, and the status of the remaining stations, as well as the phased introduction of passenger services. Their Highnesses were accompanied by a delegation comprised of Sheikhs and senior officials, including H.E. Shadi Malak, CEO of Etihad Rail, and several senior officials from the company.

Less than five years ago, when the UAE Railway Programme was launched as part of the Projects of the 50 in December 2021, passenger rail in the UAE was an ambitious vision.
