We were honoured to welcome H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah; H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah; and H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of Etihad Rail, to Fujairah Passenger Station. Their Highnesses visited the station following its completion, a significant milestone as the first completed passenger station on the Etihad Rail network. During the visit, they were briefed on the station’s facilities, the passenger experience and booking journey, the progress of the wider network, and the status of the remaining stations, as well as the phased introduction of passenger services. Their Highnesses were accompanied by a delegation comprised of Sheikhs and senior officials, including H.E. Shadi Malak, CEO of Etihad Rail, and several senior officials from the company.

Less than five years ago, when the UAE Railway Programme was launched as part of the Projects of the 50 in December 2021, passenger rail in the UAE was an ambitious vision. From 30 June, passengers can experience the journey through the Introductory Operational Phase between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah, ahead of the official launch of Etihad Rail Passenger Services on 30 September 2026.
