Following a four-year investigation, the FBI’s Eurasian Organized Crime Task Force arrested eleven people today in a title fraud case called “Operation Hard Money.” The defendants were indicted for allegedly defrauding lenders by stealing the identities of elderly victims, then using the stolen information to access title reports and solicit loans backed by the properties.

During December, the FBI’s Los Angeles Office surged its violent crime resources and teamed up with federal, state and local partners to conduct 36 joint enforcement operations. These operations resulted in significant disruptions of gang offenders and drug trafficking networks in and around the Los Angeles region, yielding the following accomplishments as part of Operation Coast To Coast: o92 Criminal Complaints filed o8 Search Warrants executed o223 arrests o102.5 Kilograms of Fentanyl seized o470.5 Kilograms of Methamphetamine seized o1.5 Kilograms of Cocaine seized oApproximately $3,000.00 in US Currency seized o29 Firearms recovered Another source of revenue for Los Angeles gangs are “casita” operations, illegal gambling establishments where narcotics, prostitution and firearms trafficking are conducted. Many casitas were targeted by various task forces leading to the detention of over 130 people and the seizure of numerous firearms and narcotics. Additionally, through the FBI’s work on the Darkweb, investigators identified one of the largest vendors selling fentanyl and other controlled substances which are distributed throughout the United States. Warrants served during this operation resulted in the arrest of a Chinese national in the United States illegally, and the seizure of nearly 200 pounds of fentanyl, methamphetamine and other narcotics. The defendant allegedly shipped over 100 parcels of narcotics to buyers throughout the United States on a daily basis for over a year. Read more here:
