Emilia Clarke was devastated by Daenerys Targaryen’s ending in Game of Thrones. After reading the final scripts, she cried and walked for five hours, returning home with blisters on her feet. After eight seasons as the Mother of Dragons, she was blindsided by her character’s fate and struggled to process it. During the final cast table read days later, Kit Harington learned for the first time that Jon Snow would kill Daenerys. Clarke sat opposite him to watch his reaction. When they reached the scene, he looked at her in disbelief and broke down in tears. The 6'3" Gwendoline Christie (Brienne) has stated that the most gruelling scene she ever had to play in the series was in season four's episode The Children (2014), when she fought sword-to-sword with 6'6" Rory McCann (Sandor "the Hound" Clegane). She spent two months training three to four days a week with swordmaster C.C. Smiff just to build up the required stamina for her fight scene.
