From training in Norway to the front line 🇺🇦 Recently, Norwegian instructors bid farewell to a new cohort of Ukrainian soldiers returning home after completing their training in Norway. The front line, and the fight for freedom, now await them. Tomorrow marks four years since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine represents the most serious security policy challenge facing Europe and Norway, emphasises Minister of Defence Tore O. Sandvik. ‘Ukraine’s struggle for freedom, sovereignty and democracy directly strengthens our own security. Norway stands with Ukraine. We will continue our support — political, economic and military — for Ukraine’s freedom, and for a just and lasting peace in Europe.’ Norway will allocate NOK 85 billion in support to Ukraine in 2026, of which NOK 70 billion will be military assistance. Allies conducted a low-altitude flyover of Oslo, Norway 🇺🇸🇳🇴 On Friday, a U.S. Air Force B-52 Stratofortress was escorted by Norwegian F-35s during a planned training exercise between the two nations, aimed at enhancing interoperability between the Norwegian Armed Forces and U.S. strategic bombers. The United States regularly deploys its Bomber Task Force (BTF) to Nordic countries to strengthen cooperation with allies in the region. “The U.S. is our largest and most important ally, and it is crucial that they train with us here. The fact that the Americans come to Norway to train with the Norwegian Armed Forces sends an important signal of the U.S. commitment to European and Norwegian security”, said Norwegian Minister of Defence Tore O. Sandvik.
