That whole stretch where Maya and Anna start testing the edges of what “growing up” actually feels like still sits with me. They’re still the same two best friends who share everything, still half-kids in braces and dumb jokes, but suddenly they’re pushing into stuff that feels way bigger than them — the awkward firsts, the peer-pressure dares, the messy attempts at looking cooler or more experienced than they are. You can feel them trying to measure life by adult standards they don’t fully understand yet: a hit of something they shouldn’t, a touch that goes further than either of them is ready for, the quiet panic of realizing the world is opening up and their childhood rules no longer apply. It’s not glamorous or empowering in the moment. It’s clumsy, a little scary, and deeply lonely even when they’re side by side. What gets me is how honest the show is about that in-between space. They’re not “becoming women” in some neat montage. They’re just two girls fumbling forward, still holding each other’s hands while the ground shifts under them. I felt that exact mix of excitement and dread in my own bones. It’s uncomfortable as hell… and somehow still kind of beautiful. 🎬 PEN15
